New Trailer for ‘Drop’
What begins as an ordinary first date quickly descends into chaos in Drop, the new high-concept thriller from Christopher Landon, whose gift for genre-blending was previously on full display in Happy Death Day and Freaky. Set entirely over the course of one harrowing night, the film sees White Lotus star Meghann Fahy thrust into a waking nightmare driven by a series of mysterious, increasingly dangerous phone messages.

Fahy plays Violet, a widowed mother cautiously stepping back into the world of dating after years of grieving. Her nerves are eased when she meets Henry, played by Brandon Sklenar (It Ends with Us), whose charm and easy manner appear to offer a spark of new beginnings. But things sour fast. Violet’s phone begins to ping with anonymous messages and cruelly tailored memes – personal jabs that quickly shift from irritating to deeply menacing.
What begins as psychological manipulation escalates to full-blown terror. The hooded figure appearing on Violet’s home security feed claims to have eyes on her young son and sister, both at home under the illusion of safety. The rules are clear: tell no one, follow every instruction, or watch her loved ones die. As the night unfolds and Violet is pushed to the brink, the faceless tormentor sets her an impossible final task… to kill Henry.
The cast supporting this real-time descent into dread includes Violett Beane (Truth or Dare) as Violet’s babysitting sister, newcomer Jacob Robinson as her son, and a carefully curated mix of diners and staff brought to life by Reed Diamond, Gabrielle Ryan, Jeffery Self, Ed Weeks, and Travis Nelson. Every character becomes a possible suspect or potential target as the tension ratchets higher with each passing minute.

Directed by Landon and written by Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach (Truth or Dare, Fantasy Island), Drop iams to tap into our collective digital paranoia and the darker edges of tech-fuelled manipulation. It’s produced by horror titans Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, Cameron Fuller and Jason Blum, a powerhouse team that ensures the stakes are as high as the tension is tight.
With an escalating pace, a sharp satirical edge, and a central performance from Fahy that promises to be both grounded and galvanising, Drop positions itself as a high-wire thriller for the social media age.
Drop will be released in cinemas from 11th April, with streaming dates to follow.
