First Trailer for ‘Drop’ Teases a Thriller with a Killer Twist
The first trailer for Drop, the latest thriller from director Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky), has arrived, teasing a tension-filled rollercoaster that blends technological paranoia with classic whodunnit twists. Starring Emmy nominee Meghann Fahy (The White Lotus) and Brandon Sklenar (1923), the film is set to hit UK cinemas on 11 April 2025.

Fahy leads the cast as Violet, a widowed mother cautiously navigating her first date in years. Her nerves about the evening are briefly eased when her date, Henry (played by Sklenar), turns out to be both charming and handsome. However, what begins as a promising encounter quickly spirals into terror. Violet receives a series of anonymous, increasingly menacing messages on her phone. These “drops” start as unsettling memes but escalate into chilling threats against her young son and sister, who are at home under the watch of an unseen figure captured on Violet’s security cameras.
The stakes rise when Violet is ordered to follow a set of instructions from her tormentor, with deadly consequences for her loved ones if she disobeys. Matters come to a head when the unseen manipulator delivers a final, devastating command: she must kill Henry.

Landon’s signature mix of suspense and dark humour is on full display in the trailer, which builds a claustrophobic atmosphere within the confines of the upscale restaurant setting. Violet’s increasing desperation and the layered personalities of the restaurant’s patrons create a nerve-wracking backdrop to the central mystery. Is Henry who he says he is? And who among the staff or other diners could be involved in the sinister plot?
The cast includes Violett Beane (Truth or Dare) as Violet’s sister, newcomer Jacob Robinson as her son, and supporting roles from Reed Diamond (Moneyball), Gabrielle Ryan (Power Book IV: Force), and Ed Weeks (The Mindy Project). Landon’s ability to weave character-driven tension with clever twists ensures that Drop will have audiences guessing until the final frame.

Produced by genre heavyweights Jason Blum (M3GAN, The Purge) and Michael Bay (A Quiet Place), along with Brad Fuller and Cameron Fuller, Drop is poised to be one of 2025’s standout thrillers. Landon, working with writers Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach (Fantasy Island), has crafted a story that taps into modern fears of surveillance and manipulation, making it both timely and terrifying.
Drop looks likely to keep audiences on the edge of their seats when it releases this April. We’ll share more news as it comes.
