About

About Love Horror: A Unique Perspective on Cinema

Welcome to Love Horror, the movie review site with a distinctive approach. Unlike those heavily driven by monetary motives or obsessed with celebrity culture, we at Love Horror are dedicated to providing genuine, unbiased reviews, news, and features. Our mission is to make your film-viewing decisions a little bit easier by offering insightful content that goes beyond the conventional.
Love Horror was established way back in 2008 and since then, Alex Humphrey, Tom Atkinson and the rest of the team have been dedicated to supporting the horror industry and independent cinema.

Recognition

That approach has earned us a reputation we’re genuinely proud of. Some of Love Horror’s reviews appear on Rotten Tomatoes, and over the years our reviews have appeared on film posters, in theatrical trailers, and on DVD and Blu-ray covers for films including Silent House, The Void, Come to Daddy, Boys from County Hell, Willy’s Wonderland, and many others. You can see a full collection of these on our Love Horror Quotes page.

We’ve also been cited in Rue Morgue magazine — one of the world’s leading horror publications — in connection with promotional materials for the film Traumatika. It’s the kind of acknowledgement that reminds us why we do this.

Horror Festivals: Navigating the Dark Corners of Cinema

Over the years, Love Horror has immersed itself in the world of horror festivals across the UK and beyond. Since 2025 we have been an official media partner for FrightFest, the UK’s largest and most celebrated horror film festival (after having covered it for over a decade). We have also provided extensive coverage of other renowned events like GrimmFest, Raindance, Dead Northern and Abertoir and have partnered with the Black Sunday Film Festival, 13th Hour Horror Festival. We’ve even hosted awards at the Unrestricted View Horror Film Festival, we’re passionate about bringing you the latest from the darkest corners of cinema. If it’s happening in British horror, we’re probably there.

How Do We Do It? Unleashing the Otherworldly Critics

Love Horror wouldn’t exist without the people who write for it. Over the years we’ve built a community of contributors – film critics, horror obsessives, festival reporters, genre specialists and social stars – who bring their own voices and perspectives to everything they cover. Some have been with us for years; others are newer additions to the family. All of them care deeply about the genre and about writing honestly.
