Zac Hersh

We managed to grab the two crazily creative minds behind Followers, director/writer/actor James Rich and writer/actor Zac Hersh and quiz them about what horror movies they love the most.

Check out their answers below:

Zac Hersh, writer/actor:

“I have to go with Mandy, a 2018 film directed by Panos Cosmatos, and not just because of Nic Cage, though he’s a big part of it. The movie uses a wild mix of colors and lighting that completely transports you, making it stand out from your typical horror film. The storytelling is another thing – it doesn’t just go from point A to point B, which keeps you on your toes and really engaged. And the music is incredible, eerily enhancing the film’s trippy vibe. All these elements come together in a unique way that’s just fascinating. It’s the kind of movie that leaves you in a sort of psychedelic trance.”

James Rich, director/writer/actor:

“It’s not exactly considered an outright horror film, but David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive has some of the most disturbing scenes of outright terror I’ve ever seen. I find the nightmarish sequences to be particularly disturbing because, like the rest of the film, there’s no “reality” or structure holding characters and events in place. Every scene feels like a strange dream and while the events we’re witnessing do have an intention and meaning the overall “intention” and “meaning” of the work is elusive, which is incredibly unnerving.”
