Five FrightFest Facts From Killer Concept director and star Glenn Pane

2021 has been a strange year and although things may not have completely returned to normality one thing to be thankful for is the return of the Arrow Video FrightFest which takes place for real this year at Cineworld, Leicester Square in central London.
The annual five-day four-screen 50+ film extravaganza runs between 26th and 30th August and after a year online, it is wonderful to have FrightFest back with a hybrid event featuring in-cinema and online components bringing audiences a whole host of truly terrifying and terrific horror films.
Below we feature one of those monstrously amazing movies with our regular exclusive interview feature Five FrightFest Facts From and these five are from Killer Concept director and star Glenn Pane:

1. Tell us about your film?
KILLER CONCEPT is little film we made during the pandemic with primarily a total cast and crew of five people. We all took turns running sound, acting, etc. We were also crazy enough to make it without a script. Casey (Dillard) came out with the story and outlined each scene, then she, Coley Bryant, and myself would improvise the dialogue. If it sounds insane, it’s because it is. lol. Aside from the filmmaking portion, it’s a story about three creatives writing a screenplay about real unsolved murders that took place in their home town, but what two of them don’t know is that the third member of their team is the actual killer.
2. How did you get into making horror movies?
I’ve always enjoyed stories that had some element of fantasy to them. Whether it’s a Twilight Zone type tale or something more slasher based, it’s always appealed to me. As I continued to grow as a filmmaker it became clear that it’s much easier to market a genre film on an indie level than other options, which was fine by me since I quite enjoy it.
3. What film would you love to see screened at FrightFest and why?
I’m not sure about current films, but if I could go back to it’s release, I’d love to see SHAUN OF THE DEAD with a packed crowd that was thrilled to watch it. I can only imagine what kind of energy would have been in a packed FrightFest theater. It’s such a wonderful mix of comedy, thrills and suspense. One of my all-time favorites. Alternatively, we could show our previous FrightFest film, DRIVEN, again. But that’s for extremely selfish reasons. 😉
4. If you could create your own award to give at the FrightFest, what would it be and why?
Hmm.. Good question. As a filmmaker, it’s kind of nice that they don’t do awards. It helps you just enjoy all the other films. That being said, if I had to pick one it could be cool to have a “most original story” award. It’s so incredibly hard to come up with new ideas at this stage in cinematic history. So much has been done already. So it’s really impressive when someone comes up with a fresh idea, or even a really new and clever take on something that’s been done before.
5. If your life was made into a horror film, what would it be called and who would play the starring role?
It would be called “The Grind.” Ralph Fiennes would play me in the future. He’d still be plugging away day and night, sitting at a computer editing on whatever new movie he had just made. Everyone would hate it. lol.
