‘Passenger’ Drops New Poster and Creepy Behind the Scenes Look
Paramount Pictures has released a new poster and behind-the-scenes featurette for supernatural horror film Passenger, which arrives exclusively in cinemas on 22 May.

Directed by André Øvredal, whose previous genre credits include The Autopsy of Jane Doe and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, the film stars Jacob Scipio, Lou Llobell and Academy Award winner Melissa Leo. The project is produced by Walter Hamada and Gary Dauberman, with a screenplay by T.W. Burgess and Zachary Donohue.
Passenger follows a young couple travelling across America in a van who witness a fatal highway accident. Soon after leaving the scene, they discover they are being stalked by a demonic entity known only as The Passenger, a relentless supernatural force that follows them wherever they go.

The newly released featurette, titled The Set of Passenger Was Haunted, focuses heavily on the atmosphere surrounding production. Rather than presenting paranormal incidents as fact, the cast and crew describe the isolated filming locations, extended night shoots and physically demanding conditions that contributed to an increasingly uneasy environment behind the camera.
Øvredal explains in the video that the intention was to create a form of horror built around inevitability and pursuit, rather than relying on elaborate visual effects. According to the filmmakers, the production leaned heavily on practical techniques, natural lighting and confined spaces to create tension. Silence and anticipation appear to play a major role in the film’s approach, with the demonic presence designed to feel persistent rather than theatrical.

Scipio and Llobell both discuss the strain of filming overnight sequences in remote locations, noting that exhaustion and discomfort often fed directly into their performances. The featurette also highlights the use of practical effects to ground the supernatural elements in something more tactile for the actors during filming.
Melissa Leo co-stars as Diana, while Joseph Lopez portrays the mysterious entity itself. Christopher Young, known for his long association with horror and thriller scores, composed the film’s music.
The project marks another studio horror outing for Øvredal following the commercial success of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. Production on Passenger began in January 2025 after Paramount officially announced the film in late 2024. Early access screenings took place on 4 May ahead of the wider release later this month.
The film arrives in cinemas on 22 May, catch it in cinemas from then.
