Faith Turns to Fear in Supernatural Thriller ‘Soul Snatchers’
Paradise proves dangerously deceptive in Soul Snatchers, a new supernatural thriller in which a family’s well-intentioned return to an idyllic island becomes a fight against forces that have been quietly tightening their grip for years. Blending questions of faith, temptation and familial loyalty with a creeping supernatural threat, the film is now available to UK audiences following its digital release through Seven Tales.

Written and directed by Julio Roman, Soul Snatchers stars Cameron Arnett as Emmanuel, a devoted family man who returns to the remote island where he spent part of his childhood. Accompanied by his missionary family, Emmanuel arrives with an ambitious and compassionate goal: to establish a music school for orphaned children and create something positive for the local community.
What initially appears to be a homecoming, however, soon takes a far more troubling turn. Behind the island’s striking scenery sits an unseen influence that has embedded itself deep within the community, gradually shaping the decisions and behaviour of those who live there. Emmanuel’s convictions are soon tested as that influence begins to make its way into his own family.

His eldest son becomes increasingly absorbed in his work, putting distance between himself and those closest to him, while Emmanuel’s youngest is drawn towards a powerful cult-like figure whose beliefs directly challenge everything his father represents.
As the divisions inside the household deepen, Emmanuel is forced to confront the possibility that the danger surrounding them is far more entrenched than he initially realised. What begins as an attempt to help the island’s children instead places his own family in jeopardy, with the forces working against him threatening not only their relationships but their survival.
Roman, who was born in The Bronx, New York, has previously worked as a writer, producer and filmmaker on projects including Fuera de tinieblas and El Ultimo Minuto. He also co-wrote Soul Snatchers with Puerto Rican writer-director César Castillo, whose work has frequently combined darker genre material with social commentary.

Leading the cast, Arnett has appeared across film and television throughout his career, including roles in Star Trek: The Next Generation, Eleanor’s Bench, These Stones and The Forge.
Soul Snatchers is available now on digital in the UK from Seven Tales, following its release on 31 August 2026.
