Final Battle Begins as ‘Stranger Things 5’ Drops with Huge Fan Campaign
With Stranger Things approaching its final showdown, Netflix has launched a sprawling UK campaign to celebrate Season 5, transforming cities, train stations, radio airwaves and retail spaces as part of “One Last Adventure”. Volume 1 of the fifth and final season lands this Thursday, 27 November at 1am GMT, accompanied by a wave of immersive fan events designed to take the series’ farewell far beyond the screen.

The newly released Volume 1 trailer debuted at the Netflix x CicLAvia One Last Bike Ride event in Los Angeles, but UK fans are getting their own expansive celebration in the run-up to launch. From Upside Down Christmas displays to dedicated radio broadcasts, the campaign marks Netflix’s most ambitious UK activation for the series to date.
Since premiering in 2016, Stranger Things has evolved from a nostalgic sci-fi drama into one of Netflix’s biggest cultural touchstones. Its fourth season generated over 140 million global views, revived Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill”, and cemented the show’s legacy as a pop-culture phenomenon. Now, with Hawkins poised for its final fight against Vecna, Netflix is inviting fans to step into that world one more time.

A major part of the campaign is WSQK The Squawk, an “in-world” radio station broadcasting 24/7 through a partnership with Global Radio. Featuring Hawkins-themed programming, dedications, retro playlists and live competitions, the station expands the show’s mythology beyond the series itself. A Stranger Things-branded WSQK van is also touring Manchester, Liverpool and Brighton from 28 November, stocked with exclusive merchandise and offering fans the chance to experience live broadcasts.
Meanwhile, London Waterloo and Manchester Piccadilly are unveiling Upside Down Christmas trees, merging festive displays with the unsettling aesthetic of the show’s alternate dimension. Both installations remain in place until early January.

Elsewhere, Priority from O2 is hosting advance screenings of the season’s first episode at cinemas across the country, while several O2 stores now feature Stranger Things pop-ups designed to recreate the atmosphere of Hawkins. Fans can also step into Stranger Things: Catalyst, an immersive VR chapter available at Sandbox VR locations in London and Birmingham. Retail partners have launched extensive product collaborations, with clothing and collectibles from brands including Nike, Zara, Clarks, LEGO, Funko and Ravensburger. Food tie-ins from Babybel, Chupa Chups and KFC add to the flurry of themed offerings.
A secret “in-world” fan experience is also set to appear in London next month, with the location concealed until fans decipher the clues released on Netflix UK’s social channels.
Alongside the TV series, the West End production Stranger Things: The First Shadow continues its acclaimed run at the Phoenix Theatre. Set in 1959, the stage play explores the origins of key characters including Hopper, Joyce and Henry Creel, expanding the lore ahead of the final on-screen chapter. Written by Kate Trefry and directed by Stephen Daldry with Justin Martin, it remains a key companion piece for fans seeking deeper insight into the show’s mythology. Season 5 begins as Hawkins reels from the devastation of the Rifts. As the government tightens its grip and Eleven is forced back into hiding, the group faces a darkness more dangerous than anything encountered before. With Vecna missing and the town under military quarantine, the stage is set for a conclusion built on confrontation, loss and long-awaited reunions.
Stranger Things 5 premieres in three parts: Volume 1 on 27 November, Volume 2 on 26 December, and the series finale on New Year’s Day, all at 1am GMT.
