Nick Frost Ditches Comedy for Terror in ‘Black Cab’
Nick Frost steps into uncharted territory with his recent role, transforming from his signature comedic charm to a deeply unsettling presence in Black Cab, a psychological horror arriving on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital on 7 April 2025. The Shudder Original, directed by Bruce Goodison (Born to Kill, Doctor Foster), delivers a relentless ride into terror, blending abduction horror with ghostly apparitions and psychological torment.

Frost, best known for his work in Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and Attack the Block, plays Ian, a seemingly unassuming cab driver with a sinister agenda. Alongside him, Synnøve Karlsen (Last Night in Soho, Clique) delivers a gripping performance as Anne, a woman trapped in a nightmare, while Luke Norris (Poldark) plays her controlling fiancé, whose presence only adds to the mounting tension.
What starts as an awkward date takes a horrifying turn when Anne and her fiancé unknowingly step into the wrong taxi. What should have been a simple ride home descends into a brutal fight for survival as Ian abducts them, tying them up in a terrifying game where their fates remain unknown. As panic sets in, Anne begins experiencing ghostly visions of a mysterious woman, hinting at secrets buried in the past. With every mile traveled, Ian’s disturbing motives become clearer, twisting the situation into something even darker than a mere kidnapping.

The film, which saw its premiere at GrimmFest last year, promises shocking revelations and a growing sense of unease, using its claustrophobic setting to ramp up the suspense. As the tension between captor and captive unfolds, the supernatural elements add an extra layer of dread, forcing Anne to confront both her personal demons and a very real, malevolent force.
Said to be a masterclass in psychological horror, Black Cab showcases Frost in a performance unlike anything audiences have seen from him before. His portrayal of Ian is a slow-burning, menacing turn that lingers long after the credits roll, proving he can be just as unsettling as he is endearing.

The home release of the award winning Black Cab will also feature a behind-the-scenes picture gallery, offering a glimpse into the making of this haunting thriller. With its unsettling atmosphere, intense performances, and shocking twists, this is one ride horror fans won’t forget.
