Stars from Around the World Descend on Grimmfest 2024

Grimmfest, one of the UK’s premier genre film festivals, returns this October with an exciting and star-studded lineup of guests. Filmmakers and actors from around the globe are set to descend on Manchester to present their films, engage with fans, and take part in exclusive Q&A sessions, making this year’s edition the most interactive and talent-packed event yet.

Nick Frost Grimmfest

Running from 3rd to 6th October at the Odeon Great Northern, Grimmfest offers a chance to see world premieres, UK debuts, and international hits before they hit wider release. Attendees will not only get to watch these films but also meet the creators and stars behind them in an intimate, fan-focused setting.

Grimmfest prides itself on not having a “Them and Us” atmosphere at their events. Instead, filmmakers and performers are encouraged to mingle, socialise, often sharing a drink at the bar with audience members. Here are just a few of the guests that you can expect to see if you attend…

A Star-Studded Preview Night

Kicking off the festival on Thursday, 3rd October, is the world premiere of Black Cab, an eerie psychological thriller set in Manchester. Joining the screening will be none other than Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead, Spaced) and Synnove Karlsen (Bodies, Last Night in Soho), along with director Bruce Goodison. The trio will take part in a live Q&A following the film, offering insights into the production and their roles.

The night will also feature the European premiere of Tales from the Void, an anthology horror series from Canadian showrunners Francesco Loschiavo and John Kelley. And as the evening concludes, actress Caroline Quigley and producer Paul Kim will present the international premiere of the terrifying found-footage film Beezel, making it a thrilling start to the festival.

Friday and Saturday Bring More International Talent

Friday, 4th October, continues the excitement with filmmaker Justin Hardy and producer Chris Nunn presenting Children of the Wicker Man, an emotional documentary about the family legacy behind the iconic film. From Italy, director Federico Zampaglione will be in attendance for the English premiere of The Well, an Italian horror smash hit starring Terrifier 2’s Lauren LaVera. And from Norway, director Joey Palmroos will introduce Delivery Run alongside its UK cast, while Amsterdam Alert brings director Loïs Dols de Jong and producer Suzan de Swaan from Holland.

Saturday promises even more international premieres, including M, a post-apocalyptic drama from Macedonia, and Self Driver, a tense neo-noir thriller from Canada. The festival also welcomes back the team behind From Darkness, a Scandinavian supernatural thriller, alongside composers Si Begg and Deadly Avenger for Tim Travers and the Time Traveler’s Paradox. The evening will conclude with director Pierre Tsigaridis and producer Maxime Rancon returning to present their intense second feature, Traumatika.

A Star-Studded Finale on Sunday

On Sunday, 6th October, Grimmfest wraps up with a packed schedule of global talent. Director Andrew Bell, alongside his cast and crew, will present the world premiere of the vampire thriller Bleeding, while director Michael Steiner showcases his high-octane thriller Early Birds. The day also includes Blood Star, presented by British director Lawrence Jacomelli, and the surreal Succubus from American director R.J. Daniel Hannah.

NIcole Lovince

Closing out the festival is Killher, a splattery, satirical slasher film, with director Robyn August and cast members including Nicole Lovince attending to celebrate the film’s UK premiere in style.

With an incredible lineup of premieres, special guests, and the opportunity to connect with the filmmakers themselves, Grimmfest 2024 promises to be an unforgettable event for horror fans.
