Black Sunday Film Festival Reveals Scary Good Halloween Line-Up
The Black Sunday Film Festival is set to return with a thrilling one-day Halloween event on 26th October at its home base, the Everyman Chelmsford. Known for celebrating the best in independent genre cinema, the festival will showcase a dynamic line-up of feature films, shorts, and a mystery cult classic, making it a must-attend event for horror fans.

This year’s Halloween mini-fest will see the Essex premieres of three highly anticipated feature films. The Lonely Man with the Ghost Machine, directed by genre favourite Graham Skipper, will lead the charge. Skipper, known for his dark and inventive storytelling, brings another unique horror tale to the screen. Next, All This Time, a gothic time-loop horror by writer/director Rob Worsey, will captivate audiences with its eerie atmosphere and clever twists, featuring performances from Emily Rose Holt, Daniel De Bourg, and Emma Pallant. Rounding off the feature presentations is Hayden Hewitt’s Cara, a hit at FrightFest earlier this year, starring Elle O’Hara, Johnny Vivash, and Michaela Longden. The film promises to deliver a haunting and intense experience.

In addition to these feature films, Black Sunday will also host a selection of exceptional short films that highlight the best of emerging talent in the independent film scene. The shorts include Aetherium from Livvy Edwards, Body Worn Video by Tony Hipwell, Cut Open – A Game of ‘Tijeras y Libro’ from Adolfo Vico, Safe by David Yorke, The Dead of Winter by Stephen Graves, and The Shaver Mystery directed by Dean Bertram. These shorts span a variety of genres, from psychological horror to sci-fi, ensuring there’s something to chill every bone.

As is tradition, the festival will conclude with a Cult Film Secret Screening, presented by Arrow Video. While the title remains under wraps, Arrow Video has a history of delivering cult classics, so expect a fan-favourite film to close out the night in style.

After the screenings, the festivities continue at the Voodoo Keller with the Black Sunday Afterparty, where filmmakers and festival attendees will gather for a night of fun. This year’s theme is Alice in Wonderland, adding a whimsical twist to the spooky celebrations.
With limited tickets available, Black Sunday Film Festival’s Halloween event is sure to sell out quickly. Admission includes access to the films and the afterparty, making it a full day and night of horror-filled entertainment.
