‘Crystal Lake’ Trailer Reveals Linda Cardellini as Pamela Voorhees

Before Jason Voorhees became one of horror’s most recognisable killers, there was Pamela. Sky has released the first trailer for Crystal Lake, A24’s long-gestating Friday the 13th prequel series, with Linda Cardellini leading an eight-part story that shifts the focus back to the grief, suspicion and buried history surrounding the Voorhees family.

Crystal Lake Series 2026

The series will launch in the UK and Ireland this October on Sky and NOW, expanding the mythology of the original 1980 film through Pamela Voorhees, played by the Emmy-winning Cardellini. Almost a year after the drowning of her young son Jason, Pamela remains unable to move beyond the loss when two strangers arrive at her door and begin asking questions about her past.

Their presence sets off a chain of events that unsettles the town and turns attention towards Pamela herself, re-framing a familiar horror legacy from a different perspective. The series also features William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins and Gwendolyn Sundstrom, with Callum Vinson appearing as a young Jason Voorhees.

Brad Caleb Kane, whose credits include It: Welcome to Derry, Tokyo Vice and Warrior, serves as creator, writer, showrunner and executive producer. A24 produces the series alongside original Friday the 13th writer Victor Miller and Horror, Inc., with Marc Toberoff, Robert M. Barsamian, Robert P. Barsamian, Stuart Manashil, Tyson Bidner, Michael Lennox and Roy Lee among the executive producers.

The road to Crystal Lake has been unusually long. A24 first announced the project in 2022 with Bryan Fuller attached as showrunner before the creative direction changed and Kane took over in 2024. Production eventually began in New Jersey in June 2025, with filming returning to Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco in Blairstown, the same location used for the original Friday the 13th.

That connection gives the prequel a particularly direct link to the franchise’s beginnings, even as the new series appears set to explore Pamela and Crystal Lake with considerably more room than the films ever allowed.

All eight episodes are scheduled to debut in the US on Peacock on 15 October, while Sky has confirmed the series will arrive exclusively in the UK and Ireland via Sky and NOW this October.
