Sudbury, Suffolk is set to get a lot scarier this Halloween season as the Dead And SudBuried horror festival returns for its eighth instalment, running from 4th to 6th October 2024. The festival’s origins date back to 2016 when organiser Andy Piper decided to host a one-day event as a birthday present to himself. What began as a humble affair screening horror classics has since grown into a full-fledged horror film festival, attracting horror fans from across the UK. Now, Dead And SudBuried is a staple on the horror festival circuit, with its mix of world premieres, UK premieres, and classic films from the genre.

The 2024 line-up boasts an impressive array of new horror films, including Straight On Till Morning, a romantic road trip that quickly turns sinister, and Members Club, a horror-comedy from the makers of ManFish featuring a special appearance by the one and only Peter Andre.

Other highlights include a favourite of ours, the delightfully daft The Invisible Raptor, starring Mike Capes, Hayden Hewitt‘s intense psychological thriller Cara, and the Canadian creature feature Scared Shitless, where plumbers battle a toilet monster. Other standout moments include A screening of Federico Zampaglione’s The Well, starring Terrifier 2 protagonist, Lauren LaVera, Sean Cronin’s vampire road movie, Bogieville, plus Protein and The Last Video Store.

Director and cast Q&As are scheduled for several of these new releases, giving fans the chance to hear from the creators behind the films.

Alongside the new releases, horror fans can also indulge in a carefully curated selection of horror classics, voted on by fans over the summer. This year’s classics include The Burning, Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978), Basket Case, Halloween III and the Vincent Price-led Scream and Scream Again. With a total of nine classic horror films on offer, there’s something for everyone.

In addition to the films, attendees can look forward to horror-themed merchandise stalls, food trucks, giveaways, and discounts at local restaurants and retailers. With a fully licensed bar and plenty of interactive elements, Dead And SudBuried promises to be an unforgettable weekend for horror fans.
