Midsummer Scream

Horror and Halloween fans, get ready for a weekend of unparalleled thrills as Midsummer Scream returns to the Long Beach Convention Center from July 26 to July 28. This year’s event is set to be the largest yet, with organisers expecting a record-breaking attendance of 50,000 people. A limited number of tickets, including one-day, weekend, and VIP “Gold Bat” passes, are still available for purchase at MidsummerScream.com.

Midsummer Scream is more than just a convention; it’s a non-stop, weekend-long celebration of all things Halloween and horror. The event serves as the official kickoff to the spooky season, bringing together the biggest names in horror, the most exciting home haunts, and an extensive array of vendors. With over 300 exhibitors showcasing their wicked wares, attendees are guaranteed to find something delightfully devilish.

The highlight of the event is the Hall of Shadows, a massive space featuring multiple walk-through haunted attractions and displays. This year’s Hall of Shadows includes Lionsgate’s Gears of Fear, the first studio-produced walk-through experience at the convention, showcasing the studio’s legacy of horror.

Fans can also look forward to presentations by some of the most popular West Coast Halloween destinations. Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights will offer a presentation and an interactive photo-op featuring Universal Monsters, Chucky, and M3GAN. Additional presentations will provide sneak peeks at Knott’s Scary Farm, Six Flags Magic Mountain’s Fright Fest, Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor, Castle Dark at Castle Park, the Winchester Mystery House, and Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group’s attractions like Delusion and Haunted Hayride.

Paramount Scares will feature appearances by Katie Featherston and Micah Sloat from the Paranormal Activity films, while horror legends such as Cassandra Peterson (aka “Elvira, Mistress of the Dark”) and David Dastmalchian, star of Late Night With the Devil, will also make appearances.

The event will include a variety of other attractions and activities:

  • “The Screaming Room” short film festival presented by HorrorBuzz.
  • A special presentation by L.A.’s most shocking theatrical experience, “Urban Death.”
  • JFI Productions will haunt the show floor, celebrating the return of CREEP Los Angeles.

For families, the popular Black Cat Lounge will offer opportunities to meet and adopt cats and kittens, while Paranormal Pixie’s Pumpkin Patch will provide a scare-free zone for the youngest fright fans.

“We’ve been truly overwhelmed by the response fans have had to Midsummer Scream and the way this event grows by leaps and bounds every year,” said David Markland, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Midsummer Scream. “We broke attendance records in 2023 and are on track to do the same this year, proving that Halloween is a state of mind that lasts throughout the year, and horror fans are incredibly enthusiastic and passionate.”
