“Baghead” Set to Thrill UK Audiences from This Weekend

Baghead 2023

Today, UK cinemas welcome Baghead, a supernatural horror-thriller that intertwines suspense with psychological depth. The film, emerging from the creative minds behind hits like IT and Barbarian, features a stellar cast including Freya Allen (The Witcher), Ruby Barker (Bridgerton), and Jeremy Irvine (War Horse).

Directed by Alberto Corredor, Baghead expands his highly-regarded 2017 short film into a full-length exploration of terror and transformation. The plot centres around Iris (played by Freya Allen), who inherits an old pub, only to discover its cellar hides a terrifying secret: Baghead, a shape-shifting entity with chilling abilities. This sinister being becomes central to a dark dilemma, as it offers the power to bring the deceased to life, albeit temporarily.

As Iris and her companion Katie (Ruby Barker) delve deeper, they confront moral quandaries about exploiting Baghead’s powers. Their journey is set against an atmospheric gothic backdrop , adding layers of mystery and a historic dimension to their chilling encounters.

Director Corredor brings his vision to the feature film format, drawing inspiration from the horror expertise of Guillermo Del Toro. The screenplay, a collaborative effort by Bryce McGuire and Christina Pamies, intricately weaves the fascination with the afterlife into a tale of personal and supernatural conflict.

And to add to the intrigue of the film’s release, the producers have been somewhat secretive about its finer details, which has helped attract even more attention to this title.

In view of the recent wave of strong British horror films that have come to the forefront, we’re excited to see if Baghead is able to live up to the hype. Why not check it out yourself at a cinema near you soon?
