As was announced yesterday, The Pigeon Shrine FrightFest, celebrating its 25th anniversary, has announced its scream-inducing lineup for 2024. Taking place from Thursday, 22 August to Monday, 26 August, the festival will be hosted at the ODEON Luxe Leicester Square, London, utilising all seven screens for this year’s horror extravaganza. We have already detailed what will be on offer in Discovery Screen 1 across the long weekend.

Thursday, 22 August 2024

8:10 PM – I Will Never Leave You Alone (International Premiere) Directed by DW Medoff and starring Ken Trujillo, Katerina Eichenberger, Emma Anne Wedemeyer, and Chris Genovese, this film explores the psychological horrors faced by a man recently released from prison who must stay in a haunted house or return to jail. Medoff aims to address mental health themes, warning viewers of the dangers of unaddressed grief and depression.

10:30 PM – Happy Halloween (UK Premiere) Director Brittney Greer presents this chilling tale set in a small Midwestern town celebrating its 300th anniversary. Starring Emma Reinagel, Aline O’Neill, Graham Weldin, and Cameron Mabie, the film follows Hadley Briggs as she faces a new series of killings one year after surviving an attack by her ex-boyfriend. The masked killer turns victims into gruesome decorations, creating a terrifying game of survival.

1:10 PM – Drive Back (UK Premiere) Directed by Cody Ashford, this horror film stars Whit Kunschik, Zack Gold, Robert Lewis Stephenson, and Tammy Kaitz. The story follows artist Reid and his pregnant fiancée Olivia, who become lost in the woods after a car accident. As they encounter a series of eerie events and a relentless killer, their journey home turns into a nightmare.

6:15 PM – So Unreal (European Premiere) Directed by Amanda Kramer and narrated by Debbie Harry, this documentary delves into tech-centric cinema, examining films like The Matrix, Tron, and Tetsuo. It explores how these movies reflected society’s fears and obsessions with emerging technology at the turn of the millennium.

8:45 PM – The Freaks of Fancy (World Premiere) Elliott Léon directs this psychological gothic horror set in 1927. Four medical graduates, invited to a remote mansion by their mentor Dr. Reed Wakefield, soon realise their weekend stay has sinister implications. The cast includes Rachel Brownstein, Gordon Lawson, Holly Lovelady, and Matthew Jackman.

11:00 PM – Cursed in Baja (World Premiere) Directed by Jeff Daniel Phillips, who also stars in the film alongside Jose Conejo Martin, Finnegan Seeker Bell, and Mark File. The story follows ex-detective Pirelli as he searches for a missing heir in Baja, Mexico, uncovering a cult that worships the Chupacabra.

8:25 PM – Video Vision (International Premiere) Directed by Michael Turney, this film follows Kibby, an employee at a digitising facility, who becomes possessed by a supernatural force from a mysterious VCR. Starring Andrea Figliomeni and Chrystal Peterson, it’s a retrotech romance with a horror twist.

10:50 PM – The Monster Beneath Us (World Premiere) Directed by Sophie Osbourne, this film is set in Yorkshire, 1898, where a grieving woman and her son move into a haunted house. Starring Becca Hirani and Jack Forsyth-Noble, it explores themes of isolation and supernatural terror.

9:15 PM – Razor Blade Smile (World Premiere 4K Restoration) Jake West’s 1998 cult classic, starring Eileen Daly and Christopher Adamson, returns in a 4K restoration. The film follows vampire assassin Lilith Silver in her battle against the Illuminati.
