The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live Promo Unveils February Premiere Date

In a recent promotional release, AMC has officially announced the premiere date for its upcoming limited series, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, featuring beloved characters Rick and Michonne. The series, portrayed by Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira, is set to air on February 25th, 2024.

Last month, AMC teased fans with a trailer for the much-anticipated show, offering a glimpse into the lives of Rick and Michonne post the conclusion of The Walking Dead‘s eleven-season run. The new series, consisting of six episodes, promises an epic love story set in a world forever changed by the relentless onslaught of the undead.

Gurira, co-creator of the mini-series and one of its writers, shared insights into the narrative direction, stating, “Rick and Michonne are thrown into another world, built on a war against the dead… And ultimately, a war against the living. Can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they’ve ever known before?” The series aims to explore whether they are enemies, lovers, victims, or victors in this new, challenging environment.

The collaboration between Gurira and Scott M. Gimple, Chief Content Officer of the Walking Dead Universe, adds a unique dynamic to the project. Gimple acknowledged Gurira’s creative ambition, describing her as someone who seeks to create new, signature work. “She challenges me, I challenge her, and neither one of us lets the other off the hook,” he shared.

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live was filmed in New Jersey and boasts a stellar cast, including Pollyanna McIntosh, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Terry O’Quinn, and newcomer Matt Jeffries. Gurira, Lincoln, Denise Huth, and Brian Bockrath serve as executive producers, with Gimple taking on the role of showrunner.

As the series delves into uncharted territory, fans of The Walking Dead franchise will be eagerly anticipating the next chapter in the saga.
