Horror Favourites – Greg Sestero

Christmas may be over but that doesn’t mean you have to stop celebrating and THE CHRISTMAS TAPES sees Dave Sheridan (THE DEVIL’S REJECTS), Greg Sestero (THE ROOM), and Veron Wells (THE ROAD WARRIOR) star in a yuletide frightfest like no other!

In Robert Livings and Randy Nundlall Jr.’s Christmas-Horror Anthology THE CHRISTMAS TAPES, a family’s movie night on Christmas Eve is interrupted by a stranger, insistent on making the next Christmas ‘classic’ film himself.

“THE CHRISTMAS TAPES is a throwback to the anthology films of the 80’s and 90’s, but with a modern found-footage twist” say the directors. “Christmas Horror is a subgenre that we feel deserves more attention, and this film came about from us discussing the classics and how we could possibly bring something new to the table. From day one, we were aware that this film had to be fun and could not take itself too seriously. Developing each segment and the trajectory of how they would transition from traditional horror to comedy-horror was an exciting journey. We look forward to you discovering this box of Christmas tapes,”

Below THE CHRISTMAS TAPES and THE ROOM star Greg Sestero talks about his favourite horror film:

“There are so many great new horror films that I have enjoyed in recent years. Hereditary, Green Room, Terrifier 2.

If I had to pick my one favorite horror movie that hits all the right timeless notes, it would be Psycho. The beauty of Psycho is how subtle and unique its horror elements are. With every watch, there is a new detail or line of dialogue that strikes me. From the moment Marion Crane snakes the money and hits the highway, I love the way the paranoia flooded every scene. The eager cop tracking her, the suspicious car salesman, and of course Norman Bates.

We don’t fully know if we are watching a thriller or a romantic drama. The horror is more psychological which bleeds beautifully into Marion Crane’s sudden bloody shower. It was exciting to feel like even our lead characters weren’t safe. Psycho was one of the early films that weren’t afraid to break the rules.

The gore came from the genuine fear I had wondering what Norman was going to do next. This aspect really inspired me in how I wanted to approach making horror movies.

Therefore, watching Psycho did what all great horror films do; become a part of the fabric of your life when you are placed in the same position as the characters on screen. So now anytime I check into a small hotel anywhere, I am always looking for Norman Bates and bird statues.

Then I think to myself, who am I kidding? He wouldn’t even harm a fly.”
THE CHRISTMAS TAPES is out worldwide on digital from Terror Films now.
