‘R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead’ Brings Harvest Horror to Digital and DVD
A missing brother, a town gripped by an impossible curse and Halloween closing in fast form the heart of R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead, the latest family-friendly horror adventure inspired by the bestselling author’s brand of supernatural storytelling. Ahead of its UK home entertainment debut, Signature Entertainment has confirmed the film will arrive on Digital HD and DVD later this month.

Directed and written by Jem Garrard, R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead follows 13-year-old Sam, played by Bean Reid, whose move to the town of Redhaven quickly takes a sinister turn when his brother Finn mysteriously disappears. Stranger still, nobody, including their own mother, remembers Finn ever existed. With Halloween approaching, Sam joins forces with an eccentric local resident and the sheriff’s daughter in a race against time to uncover the truth before Finn is claimed forever by an ancient harvest curse.
The film stars Bean Reid alongside Adeline Lo, Seth Isaac Johnson, Kevin McNulty, Bob Frazer, Matty Finochio and Kendra Anderson, combining coming-of-age adventure with supernatural mystery in a story aimed at younger horror fans while remaining firmly rooted in seasonal folklore.

Garrard continues a busy run behind the camera across both television and feature filmmaking. The British-Canadian filmmaker is known for creating the SYFY series Vagrant Queen and has directed episodes of Virgin River, Nancy Drew, Motherland: Fort Salem, Day of the Dead and Wynonna Earp. Their feature credits also include Slay, Invasive and Killer High, with R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead joining a growing catalogue of genre projects.
Leading the cast is Vancouver-based actor Bean Reid, who takes on the central role of Sam. Reid has been recognised for his grounded screen performances and recently appeared in R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead, while also balancing his acting career with music as the drummer, vocalist and songwriter for his band, Horizon.
Joining him is Adeline Lo, alongside veteran character actor Kevin McNulty, whose extensive filmography includes Snakes on a Plane, Watchmen, Fantastic Four and The Uninvited. Seth Isaac Johnson, recently seen in My Old Ass, also features as Finn, the missing brother whose disappearance drives the mystery.

Although the title may evoke memories of the cult creature feature franchise, R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead tells a completely separate story, drawing instead on the kind of eerie small-town mystery that has made Stine’s name synonymous with younger generations of horror readers.
R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead will be available on Digital HD and DVD in the UK from 17 August, courtesy of Signature Entertainment.
