Horror Favourites – Liam Regan

Producer Lloyd Kaufman (The Toxic Avenger) and Director Liam Regan (My Bloody Banjo) bring you a dark and satirical love letter, come death threat to nostalgia with Eating Miss Campbell, a co-production between Troma Entertainment and Refuse Films that received its World Premiere at last years FrightFest.

A brand spanking new take on the black comedy high school movie, following in the shoes of Heathers (1989), Jawbreaker (1999) and Tragedy Girls (2017), along with nonsensical violence and tongue in cheek social commentary.

Receiving its WORLD PREMIERE at FrightFest 2022 director Liam Regan has gathered an amazing cast including Lyndsey Crane, Lala Barlow, Vito Trigo and Laurence R. Harvey.

Meet vegan-goth high school student Beth Conner, who falls into a taboo relationship with her new English teacher, Miss Campbell and soon develops a problematic taste for human flesh. Unable to commit suicide without the help of a loaded handgun, Beth finds herself destined to live inside a 90s cliché-laden horror film

When a patriarchal school board auctions the rights to live stream the inaugural “All You Can Eat Massacre” contest (where the winner is awarded a loaded handgun) Beth finally finds a way to escape horror movies once and for all.

Beth must find a way to win the contest, save her high school from a mass tragedy and suppress her increasing appetite… to eat Miss Campbell.

This is the second feature film by writer and director Liam Regan, whose previous movie, the critically acclaimed ‘My Bloody Banjo’ premiered at London Frightfest in 2015 and screened at prestigious film festivals worldwide.

Below Liam tells us all about his favorite horror films:

“My favourite horror movie has to be The Exorcist III: Legion (1990) by William Peter Blatty, I must have been 18 years old back in 2003, when DVDs were all the hype and they just released The Exorcist DVD box-set with all three movies (at the time).

I consider The Exorcist by William Friedkin to be one of the best horror films of all time, it’s certainly top five material, up there with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, I watched the second movie in the Exorcist franchise (The Heretic) whilst working at a video rental shop and I was bored to tears. So, one night, I crack open The Exorcist trilogy DVD box-set, and normally before bed, I would stick on a movie or a wrestling PPV, and then fall to sleep and what harm could The Exorcist III do? Especially since the predecessor (The Heretic) was ultimately a lame duck!

So, I was laying in bed, all comfortable watching The Exorcist III, and all of a sudden, I’m literally paralysed with fear in my own bed, in the comfort of my own home. Exorcist III attacks you when you’re the most vulnerable, again and again. William Peter Blatty is a master of the art (much like Friedkin who directed the first installment) and if you wish to be truly terrified and shit your pants type of scared, then I can’t recommend The Exorcist III enough!”
