Five FightFest Facts from Danny Morgan writer and star of DOUBLE DATE

1. Tell us about your film?
Danny Morgan: Double Date is a short sharp punch to the face. An entertaining thrill ride. Fast, action packed, scary… and hopefully funny.

2. How did approach the horror aspect of the film?
Danny Morgan: The amount of horror in the film fluctuated during the entire process, right up until the final edit. In the end we settled on about seventy five percent comedy and twenty five percent horror. It was always important to us that the horror be brutal, violent and genuinely shocking so that the audience really believes these guys are in serious trouble. That serves the comedy as these idiots have absolutely no idea they are walking happily towards their certain deaths.

3. What film would you love to see screened at FrightFest and why?
Danny Morgan: If I had to choose a film to screen at FF it would be the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I would LOVE to watch this with a packed audience. I was a kid when I saw it at my mates house on VHS and it felt genuinely evil. Like I shouldn’t be watching this. Like it should be illegal. That’s how great horror should make you feel.

4. If you could create your own award to give at the FrightFest, what would it be and why?
Danny Morgan: I would create the award for best special effects. Working on Double Date really gave me a great respect for real, tangible,  physical effects. Like prosthetics and stuff. I got to snap an arm off in this film (which was a dream come true) and I got to keep it after we wrapped. It’s on my shelf at home. The amount of detail in it blows me away. The guy that did our film was called Dan Martin and he’s a genius. Those people are real artists.

5. If your life was made into a horror film, what would it be called and who would play the starring role?
Danny Morgan: My life as a horror film would be called ‘Ginger Snaps’… I think that’s already a horror title actually… but mine is different. Mine would be about a ginger guy who snaps and kills the guys who bullied him at school. Not that that’s my plan or anything… ahem… oh and I’d want Rupert Grint to play me. Ginger legend.
