1. Tell us about your film?
Patrick Rea: My film “Enclosure” is a horror thriller starring Fiona Dourif, Kevin Ryan and Jake Busey. Here is a brief synopsis: A couple’s romantic camping trip is cut short after a group of nearby hunters are brutally killed by a mysterious creature. As the creature turns its focus on the couple, they must fight for their survival while their shelter is destroyed. Secrets and supernatural stories come to light, and they must determine if the real threat is inside or outside their enclosure.
2. How did you get into making horror movies?
Patrick Rea: Well, I grew up in small town Nebraska in the 80’s. Films like “Friday the 13th” and “A Nightmare on Elm Street” were off limits, which immediately made them more intriguing. So, naturally I watched the films and really became interested in horror. In 1991, I was in charge of my Boy Scout Halloween party and I brought films like “Misery” and “Tremors” to the party. Didn’t go over well with the parents. I’m also attracted to making horror films, because they can be made on a lower budget and they force me to be creative under the financial constraints.
3. What film would you love to see screened at FrightFest and why?
Patrick Rea: I’m excited to see a lot of films at the fest. It’s hard to just pick one. Honestly, I’m excited to see the Blood Feast remake, since I watched the original in college.
4. If you could create your own award to give at the FrightFest, what would it be and why?
Patrick Rea: That’s an interesting question. Best “Scream” would be fun! I’m sure there will be a plethora of screams to choose from!
5. If your life was made into a horror film, what would it be called and who would play the starring role?
Patrick Rea: Haha! It would be a horror / comedy about a filmmaker who has to juggle the life of indie filmmaking with raising a three year old daughter. Most likely it would end with my daughter knocking me out with a sledge-hammer and taking over as director on whatever film I’m making. It’s “The Omen” meets “Mr. Mom”. I’d be played by Zach Galifianakis, my wife played by Olivia Munn, and my daughter is completely CGI. Maybe we can get Andy Serkis to do the motion capture for her character.
Enclosure plays Friday 26th August at this years FrightFest. Find out more and book Tickets HERE
