122331. Tell us about your film?
Thomas Jakobsen: THE UNRAVELING is the story about a young Michael who has made promises to his pregnant fiancé, but is slowly relapsing back into his heroine addiction. One day at work, Michael is suddenly kidnapped by his friends and taken into the woods for a surprise bachelor party. At first, everything seems fine, but right as Michael’s heroin withdrawals begin to kick in, one of his friends turns up dead in the middle of the night. Attempting to escape the woods and find help, the remaining group is forced into a desperate game of survival.

2. How did you get into making horror movies?
Thomas Jakobsen: I’ve always loved watching horror films and I think my favorite ones make me feel like I’ve just been on the best roller coaster ride of my life. On a more philosophical note, I think I’m mostly interested in films that are able to tap into the deeper primal fears that subside deep inside all of us. I’m personally not so interested in the Horror film just looking to provide shock value, but I’m very curious when it can draw me in, reveal my own fear and allow me to explore it. It’s a delicate balance, I think it can move from therapeutic to sadistic at a certain point and then we end up feeling repulsed rather than enlightened. So in our case, we really wanted to make the movie feel like a giant roller coaster ride, but still leave you with something to think about once the film was over. We actually, could never really figure out if our film was a horror film or not, but since we are here at Frightfest, it must be true. We’ve made a horror film and we are very exited for our UK premiere.imgres

3. What film would you love to see screened at FrightFest and why?
Thomas Jakobsen: Alien. I think it’s one of my favorite horror films and I never got to see it on the big screen. I was just a little kid when it came out.

4. If you could create your own award to give at the FrightFest, what would it be and why?
Thomas Jakobsen: Best Original Score. Sometimes music can really elevate a horror film to something extraordinary. Last years “It Follows” comes to mind as a prime example.

5. If your life was made into a horror film, what would it be called and who would play the starring role?
Thomas Jakobsen: “Overdraft Fees” Starring Jodie Foster.
