‘Scream Descent’ Launches Kickstarter to Complete Fan Film
Scream Descent, a feature-length fan film inspired by the Scream franchise, is turning to crowdfunding as its creators seek to complete production. The team behind Halloween Aftermath will launch a Kickstarter campaign on 31 July, inviting horror fans to help finance the final stages of the independent project after principal photography passed the halfway mark.

Produced by A63 Pictures in collaboration with Dark Forest Productions, Scream Descent is described as a love letter to Wes Craven’s iconic slasher series, combining self-aware horror with a contemporary visual approach. Rather than attempting to continue the official franchise, the filmmakers say the project has been developed as a standalone tribute created by fans for fellow fans.
The campaign launches with a teaser trailer, opening footage from the film and a dedicated Kickstarter preview, giving potential backers an early look at the production before fundraising officially begins. According to the creative team, the money raised will support professional production equipment, practical effects, costumes, signature props, location costs and production design, while also funding physical and digital rewards for supporters.

Those rewards range from behind-the-scenes material and digital download packs to Blu-ray editions and opportunities for contributors to receive Associate Producer or Executive Producer credits.
Leading the cast are Kelly Bohart and Liz Hanna, joined by Cody Sechrist, Katie Hettenbach, Brendon Patterson, Lisette Miranda and Rich Sands.
Fan films have become an increasingly visible part of the horror landscape over the past two decades, particularly where long-running franchises are concerned. While they operate outside the studio system, many have evolved beyond small-scale online productions, attracting experienced crews, ambitious practical effects work and dedicated audiences willing to support projects through crowdfunding. That model has allowed filmmakers to develop increasingly polished productions, although success often depends on building trust with an established fan community before asking for financial backing.
For the Scream Descent team, the Kickstarter campaign represents the final stage of that process. With filming already well underway, the emphasis shifts from getting the project off the ground to expanding its production values and completing post-production without compromising the original vision. It is a slightly different proposition from many crowdfunding campaigns, which often begin long before cameras start rolling.

The film follows Halloween Aftermath, another fan-produced horror project from the creative team, and continues their focus on celebrating established genre properties through independently produced features rather than official franchise entries.
The Scream Descent Kickstarter campaign goes live on 31 July 2026 at 8.00pm BST (12.00pm PST). After which time you will be able to support it using this link: kickstarter.com
The campaign will accompany the release of new footage from the film, including its opening sequence and latest teaser trailer.
