‘Zip Wire’ Takes Survival Horror to New Heights at FrightFest

Zip Wire will make its world premiere at Tubi FrightFest this August, bringing director Howard J. Ford‘s latest survival thriller to the festival’s 2026 line-up. Starring MyAnna Buring, Joseph Millson, Saffron Burrows and Silvia Presente, the British production trades remote wilderness for the dizzying heights of the Dolomite mountains, where one woman’s escape depends on confronting her greatest fear.

Buring stars as Amy Watson, a pharmaceutical researcher whose determination to find a cure for the disease that claimed her mother’s life leads to a groundbreaking scientific discovery. When her research is stolen and her colleague is murdered, Amy becomes the target of mysterious attackers who pursue her across the mountains, leaving her with only one possible route to safety: a perilous zip wire suspended high above the landscape below.

As the hunt intensifies, Amy must overcome a debilitating fear of heights while attempting to protect both herself and the potentially world-changing breakthrough that has placed her in danger. With every escape route cut off, the film unfolds as a high-altitude game of cat and mouse in which survival depends as much on courage as endurance.

Joseph Millson, Saffron Burrows, Silvia Presente and Michael Amariah complete the principal cast, with Tom Boyle, whose previous writing credits include The Ledge, providing the screenplay. The film continues Ford’s long-running association with survival-focused thrillers, placing characters in extreme environments where physical danger and psychological pressure become equally formidable obstacles.

Ford has built one of the busiest careers in British independent genre filmmaking, directing features including The Dead, The Dead 2, The Lockdown Hauntings, Escape, DarkGame and River of Blood. His films have secured worldwide distribution through companies including Sony Pictures, Paramount, Netflix and Altitude, while The Ledge reached audiences internationally following a wide theatrical release before finding further success on streaming platforms.
