‘Fight Club’ Returns to UK Cinemas in New 4K Restoration
David Fincher’s Fight Club is heading back to UK cinemas later this month as 20th Century Studios and New Regency roll out a newly restored 4K presentation of the 1999 feature, alongside a home entertainment release set for 18 May.

The film will return to cinemas from 24 April for a one-week engagement, giving audiences the chance to revisit Fincher’s adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk’s novel on the big screen in its latest restored form. Advance tickets are already on sale, while pre-orders have also opened for a 4K Ultra HD edition and a 4K Ultra HD SteelBook release due in May.
Starring Brad Pitt, Edward Norton and Helena Bonham Carter, Fight Club remains one of the most debated and widely discussed studio films of its era. On its original release in 1999, the film divided critics and fell short of commercial expectations, only to build a far larger reputation through home video and repeat viewing. In the years since, it has become a defining cult title of the late 1990s, with its imagery, dialogue and central twist continuing to circulate widely in popular culture.

The new 4K restoration is being positioned as the film’s most comprehensive presentation to date, with the studio emphasising improved picture quality and an enhanced sound experience. The home release will also arrive in SteelBook packaging featuring artwork inspired by the film’s soap imagery, tying the physical edition closely to one of its most recognisable visual motifs.
Fincher directed the film from a screenplay by Jim Uhls, with the story following an unnamed office worker whose growing dissatisfaction with his life leads him into an escalating relationship with the charismatic Tyler Durden, played by Pitt. Bonham Carter co-stars as Marla Singer, the outsider figure caught in the volatile orbit of both men. Over time, the film’s critique of consumer culture, masculinity and alienation helped cement its place in wider conversations about American cinema at the turn of the millennium.

The reissue also arrives during a period of renewed interest in catalogue restorations and theatrical repertory screenings, with studios increasingly returning high-profile modern titles to cinemas in premium formats. For Fight Club, that means a new generation will be able to see it theatrically, while long-time viewers are being offered a fresh physical edition aimed squarely at collectors. One thing is for sure – Fight Club continues to hold a distinctive place in the modern film canon.
