Psychological Horror ‘Bare Skin’ Heads To Digital Release
Bare Skin, a new psychological horror feature written and directed by Mico Montes, is set to arrive on digital platforms on 23 February via Miracle Media. Marking Montes’ feature directorial debut, the film takes an intimate approach to horror, placing trauma, confession and emotional exposure at the centre of its premise.

The story unfolds around a group therapy session attended by six strangers, each carrying the weight of extreme personal trauma. What begins as a structured environment intended for healing gradually becomes something far more unstable. As participants begin to share their experiences, unsettling patterns emerge, suggesting their lives may be connected by more than coincidence. The session escalates over the course of a single night, with the boundaries between catharsis and danger steadily eroding.
Rather than presenting a conventional anthology format, Bare Skin interweaves its six stories into a single, claustrophobic setting, allowing revelations to overlap and collide. The film’s approach places emphasis on psychological tension rather than external threats, with each confession contributing to a growing sense of unease. The central question of whether confronting pain can become destructive underpins the film’s progression.

Montes has described the project as a deeply personal exploration of chronic pain and trauma, shaped by both conscious thematic intent and subconscious emotional discovery during the writing process. He has emphasised his commitment to preserving the rawness of the screenplay through to the finished film, stating that maintaining emotional honesty was a guiding principle throughout production. According to the filmmaker, the completed film reflects precisely what was written on the page, both in feeling and intent.
Visually, Bare Skin moves beyond the confines of the therapy room, incorporating a range of striking locations that mirror the psychological states of its characters. These include a forest associated with fear, a burning house, a water well, a dungeon-like space and a disorienting domestic interior.

The project was developed over a three-year period, with Montes working closely with a small production team to bring the film to completion. The cast is led by Rachel Alig, Torrey B Lawrence and Ariana Livingston, whose performances anchor the film’s emotionally demanding structure.
Bare Skin will be available to buy or rent digitally from 23 February.
