Neve Campbell Fights Back as Ghostface Returns in ‘Scream 7’ Trailer
Ghostface is back – and this time, it’s personal (again). Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group have unleashed the official trailer and poster for Scream 7, teasing the long-awaited return of Neve Campbell as horror’s most resilient survivor, Sidney Prescott. The film, which slashes into cinemas on 27 February 2026, marks a major homecoming for both Campbell and franchise creator Kevin Williamson, who steps behind the camera for the first time to direct the seventh instalment of the hit slasher saga.

After years of running from the mask that changed her life, Sidney has finally found peace in a quiet town with her husband, played by Community and Ted star Joel McHale, and their teenage daughter, portrayed by 1883 breakout Isabel May. But when a new Ghostface emerges, targeting Sidney’s daughter, her fragile new beginning is torn apart. Determined not to let history repeat itself, she’s forced to confront the traumas of her past and face the darkness one final time.

The trailer wastes no time in re-establishing Scream’s signature blend of self-aware menace and razor-sharp suspense, opening with a tense phone call and closing with a familiar voice asking, “What’s your favourite scary movie?” Original stars Courteney Cox and David Arquette also return as Gale Weathers and Dewey Riley, alongside Scream VI alumni Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding. New additions include Anna Camp, Michelle Randolph, Mckenna Grace, and Jimmy Tatro, while Matthew Lillard and Scott Foley – who played killers Stu Macher and Roman Bridger in earlier entries – make mysterious appearances that have already fuelled intense speculation online.

Williamson, who wrote the original Scream and its early sequels, co-wrote the new film’s script with Guy Busick (Ready or Not), based on a story by Busick and James Vanderbilt. The project faced a turbulent road to production, with multiple cast changes and directorial shifts before Williamson reclaimed the series he helped launch nearly three decades ago. Principal photography wrapped earlier this year in Atlanta, and composer Marco Beltrami – returning from the first four films – has completed a sweeping orchestral score featuring a new iteration of the franchise’s haunting “Sidney’s Lament.”
Early glimpses suggest Scream 7 will return to its psychological roots, blending the meta-horror style that made the franchise a phenomenon with an emotional focus on legacy and survival. The film also promises a more mature, reflective Sidney, now forced to protect her child from the same evil that once defined her youth.

With Williamson directing for the first time and Campbell once again at the forefront, Scream 7 stands as both a homecoming and a potential conclusion to one of horror’s most enduring sagas. Whether this really is the final chapter remains to be seen – but Ghostface has never been one to stay quiet for long.
