The Master of Horror Goes Live as John Carpenter Streams Halloween Concert Globally

Horror legend John Carpenter is making a grand return to live performance this Halloween with John Carpenter Live: Halloween from Los Angeles, a one-night-only global livestream event on 31 October. The concert, presented by Bloody Disgusting and Veeps.com, marks Carpenter’s first time back on stage since 2018 and will feature the Oscar-nominated filmmaker and composer performing his most iconic scores alongside longtime collaborators Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies.

Broadcast from Downtown Los Angeles, the performance will stream live worldwide at 11 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT. Fans can access the event through Veeps.com, with US viewers also able to stream via Screambox, the horror platform operated by Bloody Disgusting and Cineverse.

For more than four decades, Carpenter has been one of the most influential figures in both horror and film music, having defined the genre’s sound and atmosphere through his minimalist, synth-driven compositions. His work on Halloween, The Thing, The Fog, and Escape from New York not only transformed genre filmmaking but also inspired generations of electronic musicians and composers. His live shows, known for their immersive visuals and thunderous sound design, have earned a cult following across the globe.

Speaking ahead of the event, Carpenter described his music as an extension of the worlds he builds on screen. The livestream will give audiences worldwide the chance to experience those worlds in real time, performed by the master himself. The show will feature a mix of classic film themes, tracks from his Lost Themes albums, and possibly a few surprises for dedicated fans.

Produced by Storm King Productions, the company Carpenter co-founded with his wife and creative partner Sandy King, in collaboration with Bloody Disgusting and Veeps, the concert forms part of a mini-tour celebrating his return to the stage. It also marks a major milestone for Screambox, which will host its first-ever live-streamed event.

Carpenter’s influence spans nearly fifty years, from his 1978 breakthrough Halloween to cult favourites such as Big Trouble in Little China, Christine, In the Mouth of Madness and They Live. In addition to directing and composing, he continues to work in television, comics and music. His most recent project, John Carpenter’s Suburban Screams, brought his distinctive brand of horror to Peacock earlier this year.

Now 77, Carpenter’s creative output shows no signs of slowing. In 2025 alone, he will receive a lifetime achievement award from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association and a long-awaited star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. His Halloween concert not only celebrates his legendary career but also reaffirms his enduring connection with fans who have followed his work from the VHS era to the digital age.
