A24 Goes for the Throat with X Trilogy Box Set
A24 is giving film fans something to scream about this October with the release of the X Trilogy: Collector’s Edition Box Set, a deluxe three-disc collection that brings together X, Pearl, and MaXXXine in both Blu-ray and 4K UHD formats. This marks the first time that X and Pearl will be available on 4K in the US, making the release a major milestone for physical media collectors and fans of Ti West’s now-iconic slasher saga.

Hailed as one of the most distinctive horror trilogies of the last decade, the X films introduced audiences to the dual personas of Maxine Minx and Pearl, both played with chilling precision by Mia Goth. The trilogy spans generations, genres, and aesthetics – from the grimy farmhouse of X to the technicolour nightmare of Pearl, and the neon-soaked sleaze of MaXXXine set against the backdrop of 1980s Hollywood.
Packaged in a blood-red plastic sleeve with a rigid slipcase and photo-collage digibook, the Collector’s Edition is packed with more than 90 minutes of behind-the-scenes featurettes, original concept art, costume sketches, vintage VHS set dressing, and commentary tracks on each film. A 64-page booklet featuring a new essay by Jon Dieringer deepens the context for a trilogy that continues to stir discussion for its portrayal of fame, repression, and the grotesque.
Technical specs reveal full Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio across the 4K releases, and all three titles come with English, SDH, Spanish subtitles, and descriptive audio options. The set is expected to ship in October, adding a high-gloss finish to a trilogy that has already carved out its place in horror history.

X made its debut in 2022 as a love letter to 70s exploitation cinema, followed by Pearl, a psychological character study and prequel that reframed the original’s slasher themes through a storybook lens. MaXXXine, released in 2024, brought the saga to a close with Maxine’s pursuit of stardom and survival in a world where everyone wants a piece of her – dead or alive.
From the grindhouse to the glitz, Ti West’s trilogy isn’t just a series of horror films; it’s a cinematic time capsule of America’s obsession with fame, sex, and the price of becoming unforgettable.
