‘Year 10’ Brings Brutal Post-Apocalyptic Horror to Digital This August

Reel2Reel Films has confirmed the UK digital release of Year 10, Ben Goodger’s dialogue-free post-apocalyptic horror, arriving on 4 August. The announcement follows the film’s well-received debut at FrightFest last summer, where it drew praise for its stark vision of survival in a world overrun by violence and feral predators.

Year 10 film
Set a decade after the collapse of civilisation, Year 10 depicts a grim wasteland where silence is vital to survival. Those who remain have formed violent factions, while packs of wild dogs roam the countryside. Against this backdrop, a young man, played by Toby Goodger, witnesses his father’s (Duncan Lacroix) savage murder at the hands of a gang of cannibals. When the killers steal the family’s medical supplies, leaving his gravely ill girlfriend (Hannah Khalique-Brown) at death’s door, he sets out on a relentless mission for revenge and recovery.

Year 10 film
Adapted from Goodger’s 2010 short film Coming of Age, the feature expands on its haunting premise with a bold stylistic choice: it is told entirely without dialogue. This creative decision heightens the film’s oppressive atmosphere, forcing the audience to absorb every sound of breathing, footsteps and distant growls as the tension mounts. The silence becomes as suffocating as the wilderness itself, and every human interaction carries the weight of life or death.

Ben Goodger, whose earlier credits include the acclaimed TV series Wolfblood and a string of award-winning shorts, makes his feature debut with Year 10. His direction leans into stark, unforgiving landscapes and visceral physicality, evoking comparisons to the minimalist horror of The Road and A Quiet Place. The cast also includes Duncan Lacroix, best known for Outlander and Outlaw King, and Hannah Khalique-Brown, recently seen in Barbie and the upcoming series Dune: Prophecy.

With its sparse aesthetic and unflinching violence, Year 10 aims to challenge viewers as much as it terrifies them. Reel2Reel Films will release the title on digital platforms across the UK from 4 August.
