Netflix’s ‘Troll 2’ Brings Bigger Beasts to Screen
Netflix has revealed the first teaser for Troll 2, the eagerly awaited follow-up to its record-shattering Norwegian hit. The sequel is set to premiere on the streaming service on 1 December, inviting audiences back into a world where ancient folklore collides with modern peril.

In the new footage, returning heroes Nora (Ine Marie Wilmann), Andreas (Kim Falck) and Captain Kris (Mads Sjøgård Pettersen) face a more brutal adversary than ever before. A hulking new troll, its skin etched with runic scars and its roar echoing through frozen fjords, stalks unsuspecting villagers and travellers alike. The teaser offers glimpses of high-altitude chases across snow-swept plateaus, frantic boat escapes through misty waters and bone-crushing encounters in underground caverns.
Director Roar Uthaug, who steered the original Troll to global acclaim, described the sequel as an opportunity to “expand the scope, deepen the story and create a troll-sized spectacle like you’ve never seen before.” Uthaug emphasised that the team has pushed both visual effects and practical creature design to new limits, blending Norwegian legends with blockbuster ambitions. “We wanted to honour the film’s roots in folklore while delivering the kind of action that audiences expect today,” he said.

Wilmann, who reprises her role as the intrepid paleontologist Nora, noted that the cast embraced the project’s ambitious scale. “Filming across remote locations was a challenge, but every snowstorm and cave sequence reminded us why the first film resonated so strongly,” she commented. Newcomer Sara Khorami joins the party as Marion, a fierce ally who brings fresh expertise in ancient runic magic to the team.
Producers Espen Horn and Kristian Strand Sinkerud admitted that sequels can be daunting, but they believe Troll 2 surpasses its predecessor in both humour and heart-stopping tension. “We’ve created something bigger, funnier and more adventurous,” they said. “The goal was to deliver a ride that feels both familiar and wildly new.”
The original Troll not only topped Netflix’s non-English film charts but also amassed more than 103 million views, making it the platform’s most-watched foreign title. The sequel builds on that momentum by delving deeper into the mythology of Norway’s mountains and exploring how humanity responds when legends awaken.
Troll 2 hits Netflix on 1 December. For those eager to delve into its dark magic, the teaser offers a tantalising preview of the chaos to come.
