The Thunderbolts Smash Into Your Living Room This August

Fans of unexpected heroics can prepare to assemble their home theatre decks as Thunderbolts flies onto 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray™ and DVD on 4th August. Marvel Studios’ latest team-up of antiheroes reunites the likes of Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes and John Walker in a globe-spanning thrill ride that has been hailed by critics as “scrappy, scruffy-looking, down-to-earth fun” (Nicholas Barber, BBC Culture) and “the ultimate Marvel film” (Clarisse Loughrey, Independent).

The cinematic spectacle headlines Dolby Vision® and Dolby Atmos® support in the 4K Ultra HD edition, delivering jaw-dropping clarity and room-shaking sound that puts you right in the cockpit as red-armoured heroes and villains collide. Collector’s SteelBook® fans are in for a treat with exclusive custom artwork and premium packaging, while the Blu-ray™ and DVD editions offer the same wealth of bonus material for those who prefer high-definition or classic disc formats.

Viewers can dive into behind-the-scenes featurettes exploring how director Jake Schreier rallied this ragtag force for a deadly mission. Deleted scenes such as “Door is Unliftable” and “Gary Announcement” reveal moments cut from the theatrical release, and a playful gag reel captures the lighter side of filming stunts at dizzying heights above Kuala Lumpur’s skyline. A special featurette “Around the World and Back Again” takes audiences on a tour of the film’s international locations, from the streets of Istanbul to Florence Pugh’s death-defying leap from one of the tallest buildings on the planet.

One of the most intriguing bonus features is “All About Bob, Sentry & The Void,” which delves into Lewis Pullman’s multi-character performance and the visual effects that bring these complex identities to life. In “Assembling a Team to Remember,” cast and crew share how this mismatched band of heroes was brought together by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine’s machinations and forced into a deadly alliance. Finally, director’s commentary tracks every twist in Thunderbolts, offering insight into Schreier’s approach to pacing, humour and the occasional surprise cameo.

Plot-wise, the film opens with the Thunderbolts trapped in a lethal device engineered by de Fontaine. Forced to confront the worst chapters of their past, the group must decide whether to fall apart under pressure or unite at the risk of life and limb. Alongside Pugh and Sebastian Stan’s return, newcomers like Taskmaster add fresh energy, while David Harbour’s red guardian injects old-school charm into a story that spans from covert government tunnels to sun-soaked European vistas.

With pre-orders live at Amazon, HMV, Planet of Entertainment, Zavvi and Rarewaves, now is the time to secure a copy and rally your own Thunderbolts at home. Whether you choose the shimmering SteelBook® or one of the standard editions, the August release offers an unbeatable combination of special effects, stunt work and the camaraderie of Marvel’s most unlikely saviours.
