‘It Feeds’ and ‘Fear Below’ Deliver Terror from Land and Sea
Two genre-driven thrillers have surfaced on digital platforms this week, both released by Signature Entertainment. The first is Fear Below, a period-set aquatic survival film blending mid-century crime and nature horror, and the second is It Feeds, a supernatural possession story centred on generational trauma and unseen terror. Though markedly different in tone and style, both films mark distinctive entries in their respective subgenres, offering audiences immediate access to contemporary independent horror.

Fear Below, directed by Matthew Holmes, is set in 1946 and unfolds in the remote waterways of the Australian outback. A group of professional divers, hired under mysterious circumstances to recover a sunken vehicle, quickly learn that their true objective is not salvage work but the retrieval of stolen gold. The vehicle belonged to a group of bank robbers, now employing the divers to discreetly recover the wreckage. However, the waters they’ve entered are occupied by a territorial bull shark, and the criminals themselves prove just as dangerous.
The film stars Hermione Corfield, Jake Ryan, John McConville, Jacob Junior Nayinggul, Arthur Angel and Maximillian Johnson. Shot on location and designed with period accuracy in mind, the film juxtaposes the sharp tension of wartime crime with the unpredictable menace of nature. Holmes, who co-wrote the script with Gregory Moss, brings a methodical pacing and emphasis on claustrophobic dread as the divers are forced to choose between threats above and below the surface. Fear Below is currently available to stream on digital platforms, with a DVD release confirmed for 9 June.
Also out now is It Feeds, the latest horror feature from writer-director Chad Archibald. Set in a domestic environment rather than the wild, the film follows a home-based psychiatrist, Jordan (Ashley Greene), and her clairvoyant mother (played by an undisclosed actress), as they attempt to treat a disturbed girl claiming to be under attack by an entity. As the mother and daughter uncover the truth behind the girl’s condition, they are drawn into a confrontation with something that exists outside the bounds of traditional psychiatry.

Starring Greene alongside Shawn Ashmore, Mark Taylor and Ellie O’Brien, It Feeds presents its horror through a blend of paranormal elements and familial instability. Archibald, known for I’ll Take Your Dead, uses restrained visual effects and a minimal setting to focus on psychological tension. The possession angle, framed within a psychiatric context, suggests an attempt to challenge conventional tropes while still embracing the familiar aesthetics of modern supernatural horror.
It Feeds is available now on major digital platforms. Fear Below is also available now on digital platforms, but will also be available on DVD from 9 June.
