‘The Witch Game’ Brings Dark Magic to UK Screens This Halloween
A chilling new horror is set to blur the boundaries between reality and virtual nightmares this Halloween. The Witch Game, an Argentinian horror directed by Fabián Forte, is coming to UK digital platforms on 14 October 2024, courtesy of Miracle Media. Drawing on rich Argentine folklore, the film plunges its audience into a terrifying world where dark magic and twisted virtual realities collide in a race against time.

The story centres on Mara, played by Lourdes Mansilla, a teenager who is more interested in video games and the occult than spending time with her family. When she receives a mysterious virtual reality game on her birthday, she eagerly dives into it. The game promises to teach her real witchcraft, offering a thrilling escape from her mundane life. But as Mara soon discovers, this is no ordinary game.
Things take a darker turn when her younger sister Sofia, played by Denise Bárbara, disappears without a trace. As Mara navigates the virtual world, she realises she must master the dark arts of the game in order to save her sister. The lines between the game and reality blur as she faces increasingly dangerous challenges. Guided by three powerful sorcerers, she is forced into a battle against the ultimate evil, the devil himself.

The Witch Game taps into the popular theme of virtual reality horror, combining modern technology with ancient, dark folklore. The stakes are high, with Mara facing not just the loss of her sister, but the unraveling of her own reality. The movie blends Argentine mythology with contemporary scares, making it a unique addition to the horror landscape.
Fabián Forte, known for his films La Corporación and Carnal, brings his distinctive style to this latest feature. His signature ability to blend suspense with supernatural themes makes The Witch Game a standout in the genre. The film also features a talented cast, including Martín Borisenko and Natalia Grinberg, who bring depth to the terrifying and surreal world Forte has crafted.

With its release timed perfectly for Halloween, The Witch Game promises to captivate horror fans who enjoy occult themes and psychological thrills. The Spanish-language film, with English subtitles, will be available digitally across the UK from 14 October, offering viewers a chance to experience its dark magic and terrifying stakes.
