StudioCanal resurrect Hammer classics

StudioCanal are currently busying themselves by restoring 30 Hammer horror classics for release in High Definition.

Dracula Prince of Darkness is to be the first release from this exciting project, with StudioCanal working with Hammer’s original US studio partners Warner Bros., Twentieth Century Fox and Paramount Pictures.Dracula Prince of Darkness Hammer film
The resoration process involved Dracula Prince of Darkness being restored in its original aspect ratio of 2.35:1 and scanned at 2K resolution from the
original negatives stored at Pinewood Studios.

Over the course of 2012 the initiative will see subsequent remastered HD releases of The Reptile and The Plague of Zombies in May, and The Devil Rides Out, Rasputin the Mad Monk and The Mummy’s Shroud later in the year in a continuation of StudioCanal’s commitment to investing and restoring the best of British Cinema.

Dracula Prince of Darkness will be released on March 7th. But if you can’t wait that long there will be a special screening of it and The Reptile and The Plague of Zombies at the Glasgow Frightfest.
