‘Terrifier 3’ Scares Up Signature Entertainment’s Biggest Box Office Hit Yet!

The clown everyone’s been dreading is back, and this time, he’s more sinister than ever. Terrifier 3 has just carved its way through box office records, becoming Signature Entertainment’s biggest-ever UK and Irish opening. Over its debut weekend, Damien Leone’s latest installment in the brutal Terrifier series raked in an impressive £1,049,000. This figure obliterated Signature’s previous record, held by Orphan: First Kill, which grossed £464,616 in its 2022 opening.

Terrifier 3, which marks the UK and Ireland debut of the third chapter in Leone’s blood-soaked saga, once again follows the harrowing journey of Sienna (Lauren LaVera). Haunted by disturbing visions and the lingering trauma of her previous encounter with the malevolent Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton), Sienna must confront her darkest fears as she realises there’s no escaping the nightmare Art has wrought. In this instalment, Art returns with more ferocity and twisted glee, dragging Sienna and her loved ones into his chaotic and evil world.

The film’s UK and Irish box office success also makes it the top-grossing 18-rated horror release of 2024, surpassing Abigail, MaXXXine, and the highly anticipated Immaculate, starring Sydney Sweeney. Additionally, Terrifier 3 became the highest-opening for an independent 18-rated film in the UK and Ireland this year, overtaking the Northern Irish biopic Kneecap.

The Terrifier franchise continues to dominate the horror genre, with the success of Terrifier 3 reinforcing its status as one of the most lucrative independent horror franchises of the past decade. Terrifier 2, the previous sequel, made international waves with its modest $250,000 budget and astonishing $15 million box office haul in the U.S. Now, Terrifier 3 is proving that the franchise’s fanbase is as eager as ever for its extreme, no-holds-barred approach to horror.

The latest film has also earned critical recognition, securing a Certified Fresh status on Rotten Tomatoes and the coveted Verified Hot rating—achievements only claimed by a handful of films in 2024. However, the terror of Terrifier 3 extends beyond its box office numbers. During its UK Gala Premiere, the intense horror saw 11 attendees leave the cinema in fear, with reports of walkouts and fainting also making headlines at its Australian premiere.

As Art the Clown’s sadistic reign of terror continues, Terrifier 3 is cementing itself as a high point in independent horror filmmaking, with a standout cast featuring David Howard Thornton, Lauren LaVera, Samantha Scaffidi, Elliott Fullam and Jason Patric.
