Horror Favourites – Sarah Alexandra Marks

With Saban’s release of Escape hitting theaters and VOD this March 15th, the film promises to thrill and excite in the same vein as Taken and Revenge. Starring Sarah Alexandra Marks, the movie is full of stunts, chases, and action. We caught up with the leading lady to talk horror.
Directed by Howard J. Ford (The Dead, The Ledge, Darkgame), the film has a distinct sense of location and style all its own. “Working with Howard truly was an adventure of a lifetime,” Marks says. “He is a very trusting director: he’s able to tease out the best in you and let you run with it … literally and metaphorically.
Working on Escape, more specifically with Howard J Ford, was a breath of fresh air – he is a wonderful director to work with, every day, every scene, every moment carries meaning and passion. Collaborating with him on this film reinvigorated me as an artist and performer. With the trust of Howard I was able to explore my character with free reign and ease. I truly believe this helped me be present in each moment both on and off camera.”
On the film’s locations, Marks explains: “Shooting in canyons, desert dunes and caves was a once in a lifetime experience … all while wearing heels! The film captures shots of the desert that would make Sergio Leone fans happy and those who love full blown action are in for a treat!” Speaking about the incredible amount of stunts and action required, Marks says, “I did all my own stunts and fight choreography and loved every moment of it; it’s amazing what we can do when we channel our unique strengths to overcome the harshest adversities.”
Sarah Alexandra Marks was born in Essex, England. She trained as a dancer going on to perform at prestigious venues, most notably the The Royal Opera House. She transitioned to screen acting and quickly began racking up an impressive list of film credits with leading roles in Howard J Ford’s Escape and the upcoming River of Blood. Other leading roles include the horror films Witch, The Caller, and The Manor. More recently, we saw her in the breakout independent UK horror, Punch.

Below Sarah chats to us about the chilling flick she loves the most:
“My horror favourite has to be Scream. What a great teen slasher it is. I love to work out who the killer is and Scream always keeps you guessing. It’s as much a murder mystery as it is a slasher. I remember when my friends and I closed the curtains, grabbed the duvet, squashed up on the sofa and watched Scream for the first time. It was so exciting, had us screaming at all the jump scares, bickering about who the killer was and covering our eyes at the slashes. Since then, I’ve loved every single Scream, it never fails to disappoint. I still jump and scream at every scare, shout at the screen “run, run” and cover my eyes. I love it!”
