Supernatural Terror Malum Grips the UK This March

This March, UK audiences are in for a terrifying treat as Screenbound Pictures and Blue Dolphin Films announce the release of Malum, a supernatural horror that delves into the dark and paranormal. The film is scheduled for a UK theatrical release on March 22, 2024, followed by a digital and physical release on April 22.
Directed by Anthony DiBlasi, who also helmed the 2014 feature Last Shift, “Malum” is not just a sequel but a reimagining that elevates the horror to new heights. Co-written with Scott Poiley, the film stars Jessica Sula, known for her roles in TV’s Skins and the movie Split. Sula’s performance is central to the film’s haunting exploration of a rookie police officer’s last shift at a decommissioned police station. Her character embarks on a perilous journey to unravel the mysterious connection between her father’s death and a vicious cult, only to find herself ensnared in a web of paranormal occurrences.

Malum, which translates to “Evil” in Latin, expands on the premise of its predecessor by setting the stage in a police station where members of a cult committed suicide years prior. The rookie cop’s shift turns into a nightmare as she confronts both the truth about the cult and her family’s dark past. The film also features Eric Olson, Chaney Morrow, and Candice Coke in pivotal roles.
Released theatrically in the United States on March 31, 2023, Malum made its way to video-on-demand and digital platforms on May 16, 2023. The UK release offers fans of supernatural horror an opportunity to experience the chilling tale on the big screen, followed by the convenience of home viewing.
Malum is not just a story of supernatural horror but also a deep dive into themes of family legacy, cultic influences, and the struggle between good and evil. As Malum has already been well received on US shores, it’s great to see DiBlasi giving it the formal unveiling it deserves in the UK. the film is a testament to the enduring appeal of horror that not only scares but also probes the depths of human emotion and the shadows of the past.
Watch out for the release from 22 March.
