We were very excited to get some time with writer/director Thomas Sieben who told us more about the film and his background in horror storytelling mastery.

1. Tell us about your film
Home Sweet Home is a ghost movie shot in one single continuous take and tells the story of Maria, a heavily pregnant woman who just moved into a new house in the countryside. She plans on sending a relaxing evening when suddenly weird things start to happen.
2. How did you get into making movies?
I got into making movies through pen and paper roleplaying games, especially a game called Call of Cthulhu – based on the works of H.P. Lovecraft. In my teens I played that with my friends a lot and from creating stories in those games I moved to to writing short stories and later screenplays which then led me to directing.
3. What film would you love to see screened at FrightFest and why?
I would love to see The Omen on a big screen and with an audience. It was and still is a very important movie for me. After I saw it for the first time when I was only 12 I couldn‘t sleep for 3 nights straight.
4. If you could create your own award to give at FrightFest, what would it be and why?
It would be an award for best performance. Actors often get overlooked in the horror genre but I honestly think the work they do in those movies is very difficult. Often the events the characters live have no real life points of reference. How would you react if your brother gets eaten by a clown? If you find out your parents are vampires? Or if your son is actually the devil?
5. If your life was made into a horror film, what would it be called and who would play the starring role?
The movie would be called “Thomas’ Ladder“ (as in Jacob’s Ladder) and it would star a confused Jeremy Davies (who we don‘t see often enough) trying to find out why everything is so weird in the world around him.
