A24 Drops First Trailer for Adam Wingard’s ‘Onslaught’
A24 has revealed its first trailer for Onslaught, offering audiences a frenetic glimpse at the latest collaboration between filmmaker Adam Wingard and writer Simon Barrett, the creative duo behind cult favourites You’re Next and The Guest.

Set for a theatrical release on 4 September through A24, the action thriller arrives with the tagline ‘The Human Equivalent of a Heat-Seeking Missile’, signalling the kind of high-octane chaos that has become synonymous with Wingard’s recent work.
The newly released footage introduces a tense and violent story centred on a mother fighting to protect her family after a deadly threat escapes from a secret military facility. While plot specifics remain tightly guarded, the trailer leans heavily into explosive action, relentless pursuit sequences and large-scale destruction, positioning the film as a departure from more conventional genre fare.
Leading the cast is Adria Arjona, whose recent screen credits include Hit Man, Blink Twice and the acclaimed Star Wars series Andor. Arjona not only stars in the project but also serves as an executive producer.

She is joined by a cast that blends established genre veterans with contemporary stars. Dan Stevens reunites with Wingard after their acclaimed 2014 thriller The Guest and their collaboration on Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Rebecca Hall also returns to work with the director following her appearances in the recent MonsterVerse films.
The cast is rounded out by Eric Wareheim, Reginald VelJohnson, Michael Biehn, Drew Starkey and mixed martial arts champion Alex Pereira, who plays a character known as The Butcher.
The project marks a notable return for Wingard and Barrett, whose partnership helped define a wave of modern genre cinema during the 2010s. Their breakout success You’re Next became a favourite among horror audiences thanks to its inventive home-invasion premise, while The Guest earned critical praise for blending action, suspense and dark humour. Since then, Wingard has moved into larger studio productions including Godzilla vs. Kong and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

Development on Onslaught was first announced in September 2024, with A24 backing the project alongside Aaron Ryder’s Ryder Picture Company and Lyrical Media. Principal photography took place in Albuquerque, New Mexico, beginning in November 2024 and wrapping in early 2025.
Although the trailer keeps many of the film’s secrets intact, it presents Onslaught as an aggressive blend of action thriller and survival horror, with Wingard once again embracing the kinetic style that has defined much of his career.
Onslaught opens in cinemas on 4 September 2026.
