‘Dead Reset’ Heads to Dead Northern for Regional Premiere and Q&A

Fresh from its world premiere at Tubi FrightFest, Stewart Sparke’s blood-soaked sci-fi horror Dead Reset is heading north later this month, with the time-loop creature feature set for a regional premiere and filmmaker Q&A at Dead Northern Horror Film Festival in York.

The film will screen at 9pm on Saturday 26 September at City Screen Picturehouse, where it forms part of the festival’s second night before the annual awards ceremony and after party. Dead Northern runs from 25 to 27 September and this year brings together new independent horror, cult screenings, filmmaker talks and live events across the three-day programme.

Written and directed by Sparke, Dead Reset stars Daniel Thrace as Cole Mason, a surgeon abducted and taken to an underwater research facility where he is ordered to operate on a rapidly mutating parasitic organism. There is one substantial complication: every attempt to escape ends with Cole dying violently, only for events to reset and force him through the nightmare again.

The film adapts the interactive video game of the same name, also created by Sparke, translating its branching choices and repeated deaths into a feature-length survival horror story. Lyndsey Craine, Dennis Rasaq and Andrina Carroll co-star, with additional appearances from Michaela Longden, Johnny Vivash and Elle O’Hara, while Hellraiser and Nightbreed actor Nicholas Vince provides a voice performance.

For Sparke, the film continues a run of proudly practical British creature features that includes The Creature Below, Book of Monsters and How to Kill Monsters. His latest again places physical monster work and make-up effects at the centre of the action, this time combining them with an underwater setting and a structure indebted to both survival horror games and time-loop cinema.

The Dead Northern screening follows Dead Reset’s world premiere at FrightFest in London on 29 August, giving northern UK audiences their next opportunity to catch the film on the big screen. The York festival itself has programmed the feature between Saturday evening’s Spirits With Spirits ghost-story event and its late-night awards ceremony.

Elsewhere across the weekend, Dead Northern will host the UK premieres of Free Buffet, The First Day and Game Over, the world premiere of Evil Thread, and regional premieres including Wrath of the Gods. The 2026 festival is also backed by Dead by Daylight as headline partner, with additional screenings and immersive events running throughout the weekend.
