‘Insidious: Out of the Further’ Drops Final Trailer Before Cinema Release

With just weeks to go until audiences return to the haunted realm of The Further, Sony has unveiled the final trailer for Insidious: Out of the Further, offering the clearest look yet at the supernatural threat waiting beyond the veil. Alongside a series of striking new demon character posters, the latest preview raises the stakes for the long-running horror franchise as a terrifying new ability threatens to unleash its darkest forces into the real world.

Arriving exclusively in cinemas on 21 August, Insidious: Out of the Further marks the sixth instalment in the blockbuster series, which has earned more than $740 million at the global box office since the original film debuted in 2010. Directed and written by Jacob Chase, whose previous feature Come Play explored supernatural horror through modern technology, the new chapter introduces a fresh central family while expanding the mythology surrounding The Further.

Amelia Eve leads the cast as Gemma, a young mother raising her daughter in the house where she grew up. After discovering she can travel into The Further, the purgatorial realm of lost souls that has defined the Insidious universe, Gemma realises her connection is unlike anything seen before. She is not only able to enter the spectral world, but can also bring its inhabitants back into reality. Once the demons become aware of her extraordinary gift, the boundary separating both worlds begins to collapse.

The newly released trailer focuses on that increasingly dangerous power, teasing encounters with sinister new entities while hinting at the devastating consequences of allowing horrors from The Further to cross into everyday life. The accompanying demon posters introduce several of the film’s nightmarish creations, signalling a fresh collection of supernatural adversaries for the franchise.

Lin Shaye returns as paranormal investigator Elise Rainier, continuing one of horror cinema’s most enduring roles after appearing throughout the series. She is joined by Brandon Perea, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Sam Spruell, Island Austin and Laura Gordon.

The screenplay is by Chase from a story he developed with David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, based on characters created by Leigh Whannell. Producing duties once again fall to Jason Blum, Oren Peli, James Wan and Whannell, bringing together the creative team responsible for shaping the franchise over the past decade.

Production took place in Melbourne, Australia, with Docklands Studios Melbourne serving as the primary filming base alongside locations including Camberwell, Essendon and Kensington, which doubled for New England settings. Composer Joseph Bishara also returns, continuing his run of scoring every film in the Insidious series.

Originally scheduled for release in 2025 before undergoing a revised production timetable, Insidious: Out of the Further now arrives with its final promotional push underway as Sony prepares audiences for another journey into one of modern horror’s most recognisable supernatural worlds.

Insidious: Out of the Further opens exclusively in cinemas on 21 August 2026.
