‘Hellcat’ Heads Home After Festival Horror Success

After drawing attention on the international festival circuit with its claustrophobic premise and escalating psychological tension, Brock Bodell’s feature debut Hellcat is heading to digital platforms across the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand this summer.

Blue Finch Film Releasing has confirmed that the mind-bending horror will arrive on digital services from 14 August, introducing audiences to a tightly wound survival story that unfolds almost entirely inside a moving camper trailer, where every passing minute brings its protagonist closer to an unimaginable fate.

Dakota Gorman leads the film as Lena, a young woman who regains consciousness with a grotesque wound and no memory of how she arrived there. Trapped inside the trailer, she is told by the unseen driver towing the vehicle that they have just one hour to reach a doctor before the infection overtakes her. As the relentless countdown continues, Lena’s physical agony intensifies, reality begins to fracture and the truth behind her situation becomes increasingly difficult to grasp.

The official synopsis teases a story in which appearances cannot be trusted, asking not only whether Lena can survive, but who should really fear the events unfolding inside the isolated vehicle.

Gorman, whose previous credits include Natural Disasters, delivers the film’s central performance, supported by Todd Terry (Breaking Bad), Liz Atwater (The Other People), Jordan Mullins (The Bikeriders) and Saturday Night Live performer James Austin Johnson.

Hellcat marks the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Brock Bodell, who also wrote the screenplay. Bodell previously built a reputation through his work as a writer and editor on projects including Ultrasound and Dead Water, experience that appears to inform the film’s tightly controlled pacing and increasingly disorientating atmosphere.

Before its digital release, Hellcat established itself on the genre festival circuit with screenings at Fantasia International Film Festival, London’s FrightFest and Beyond Fest, where audiences were among the first to experience its blend of psychological horror and escalating suspense. Rather than relying on expansive locations or elaborate mythology, the film embraces confinement, allowing its central mystery to unfold within a single, highly pressurised environment.

Hellcat arrives on digital platforms across the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand on 14 August 2026 from Blue Finch Film Releasing.
