Dakota Gorman Faces Death in ‘Hellcat’ Teaser
Blue Finch Films has unveiled the first teaser for Hellcat, the feature directorial debut of writer, editor and filmmaker Brock Bodell, ahead of its world premiere at Fantasia International Film Festival on 25 July. The teaser offers a brief but intense look at Dakota Gorman’s breakout performance as Lena, a woman who regains consciousness in a moving camper trailer with a gruesome injury and only sixty minutes to reach a doctor before her fate takes a dark turn.

The teaser opens with Lena’s eyes fluttering open to reveal a ragged wound just above her hip. The driver’s warning that they have exactly one hour to reach medical help sets a pulse-pounding clock that underpins the film’s central tension. As breathless flashes of blurred road signs, pulsing headlights and Lena’s mounting pain fill the screen, it becomes clear that Hellcat will explore how survival instincts clash with the limits of the human body.
Brock Bodell co-wrote the screenplay and also handled the film’s editing, bringing a tightly controlled vision to the project. His background in writing and cutting films has informed the teaser’s sharp pacing and hallucinatory glimpses of Lena’s unraveling reality. Producer Andrew Duensing supported Bodell’s vision, funding a cast and crew that includes Todd Terry, Liz Atwater, Jordan Mullins and James Austin Johnson in supporting roles.
Dakota Gorman, who previously appeared in Natural Disasters, anchors the film with a performance that places her character in a relentless race against time. Gorman’s ability to convey pain, fear and desperation through subtle shifts in expression and physicality drives the teaser’s atmospheric build-up. The limited dialogue and close-up shots of Gorman’s performance hint at a story that will balance visceral horror with a character study of one woman’s fight for survival.

Fantasia audiences will be among the first to experience Hellcat in full at Salle J.A. De Sève with two screening opportunities. The world premiere takes place on Friday 25 July at 18:45, followed by a second screening on Sunday 27 July at 14:00. Festival organisers have confirmed that Bodell and select cast members will be on hand for post-screening discussions. Screener links and press materials are also available for media outlets seeking early coverage.
As horror fans prepare for Fantasia’s packed schedule of premieres, Hellcat arrives as one of the most anticipated debut features of the summer. Its teaser trailer suggests a film that will test both its lead character and its audience, offering a blend of claustrophobic tension, unsettling imagery and a countdown that promises to deliver edge-of-your-seat thrills.
