‘New Year’s Absolution’ Brings Holiday Horror to Summer Screens
New Year’s Absolution is trading festive cheer for paranoia, bloodshed and deadly secrets this summer, with Scatena & Rosner Films confirming a North American digital release for the holiday-themed thriller on 14 July.

Directed by Nick Leisure, the film takes a familiar New Year’s Eve tradition and twists it into the catalyst for a night of escalating violence. Set during an annual gathering of close friends, the story begins with a ritual that has become a cornerstone of their celebrations: anonymously exchanging resolutions intended to inspire change in the year ahead.
This year, however, one resolution stands apart from the rest.

When a note bearing the words “Kill Someone” lands in the hands of Jacob, a police officer already under pressure, he becomes convinced the message is a threat directed at him. As suspicion spreads through the group, relationships fracture and long-buried secrets begin to emerge. What follows is a chain of tragic events that turns a festive reunion into a fight for survival.
Scatena & Rosner Films will release New Year’s Absolution across major VOD and digital platforms, including Amazon Prime Video, Fandango At Home, DISH Network and DirecTV.
The cast is led by Michael Copon, known for One Tree Hill, alongside Josh Gilmer and Joel Brady, whose credits include Men in Black 3. They are joined by Rafael Siegel, Shala White, Victorya Brandart, Siddalee Diaz and Lamondo Hill II.

The screenplay comes from Damion Stephens, with production by Justin Nesbitt. Adam Secondo and Russ Wyluda serve as executive producers.
The release also arrives at a time when seasonal horror continues to find audiences beyond its traditional calendar slot. Rather than waiting for winter festivities, Scatena & Rosner Films is positioning New Year’s Absolution as an alternative piece of summer programming, offering viewers a holiday thriller several months ahead of New Year’s Eve.
New Year’s Absolution will be released on VOD and digital platforms across North America on 14 July 2026.
