‘Star Wars’ Original Trilogy Lands at Royal Albert Hall For 2027 Weekender
London’s Royal Albert Hall has confirmed plans for a large-scale celebration of the Star Wars franchise, with a four-day concert series dedicated to the original trilogy scheduled for spring 2027.

The venue will host a ‘Films in Concert’ weekender from 29 April to 2 May, presenting Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi with live orchestral accompaniment. Each film will be screened twice across the event, allowing audiences multiple opportunities to attend across the extended weekend.
Performances will feature the London Symphony Orchestra, whose musicians recorded the original scores for the films. The concerts will highlight John Williams’ compositions, including the main theme widely associated with the series since its debut in 1977. Williams’ wider body of work includes scores for Jaws, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Jurassic Park and the Indiana Jones films.
The event coincides with the 50th anniversary of A New Hope, the first instalment released in cinemas, which introduced characters such as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Darth Vader. The trilogy follows the Rebel Alliance’s conflict with the Galactic Empire, charting Luke’s progression as a Jedi and culminating in the final confrontation in Return of the Jedi.

According to the Royal Albert Hall, this marks the first time all three original films will be presented together across a single weekend as part of its long-running ‘Films in Concert’ programme. The format pairs film screenings with live orchestral performance, recreating the original scores in sync with the on-screen action.
The announcement follows previous themed events at the venue, including multi-day screenings of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The Hall’s concert series has, since its launch in 2009, featured a wide range of titles spanning classic cinema and contemporary releases, with orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Chineke! Orchestra participating in past performances.
Tickets for the Star Wars weekender will be released in stages, with pre-sale access for members opening on 30 April and general sale beginning on 1 May. Prices are set to start from £45, with screenings scheduled across afternoon and evening slots throughout the four-day run.
