Ghostbusters Joins Royal Albert Hall’s Films in Concert

The iconic 1984 sci-fi comedy Ghostbusters is set to join the Royal Albert Hall’s Films in Concert programme to mark its 40th anniversary. The special screening will take place during Halloween week in 2024, featuring Elmer Bernstein’s famous score performed live by an on-stage orchestra conducted by his son, Peter Bernstein.
Jason Reitman, director of Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, expressed excitement for the event, highlighting his father’s musical background and love for the original score. The celebration will allow fans to experience the beloved film in a unique way.
Part of the 2024 Films in Concert line-up, Ghostbusters will be screened alongside other classics such as Raiders of the Lost Ark, Top Gun: Maverick, and the final films in both the Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter series. Matthew Todd, Director of Programming and Engagement at the Royal Albert Hall, emphasized the significance of bringing Elmer Bernstein’s score to center stage with the help of a world-class orchestra.
Elmer Bernstein, a renowned composer with a legacy in film music, created scores for The Magnificent Seven, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Great Escape, and more. His work on Ghostbusters remains a highlight of his illustrious career.

Ghostbusters, written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, and starring Aykroyd, Ramis, Bill Murray, and Ernie Hudson, has garnered critical acclaim and nearly $300 million at the global box office. The film follows wisecracking parapsychologists who start a ghost-catching business in New York City, becoming a pop culture phenomenon that endures four decades later.
