New ‘Scary Movie’ Poster Teases Franchise Revival With Original Stars

Paramount Pictures has released a new poster for Scary Movie, signalling the exciting return of the long-running parody franchise ahead of its theatrical debut on 5 June 2026. The latest instalment reunites original cast members and marks the first time in over two decades that the Wayans family has been directly involved in shaping the series.

Directed by Michael Tiddes and written by Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Keenen Ivory Wayans, Craig Wayans and Rick Alvarez, the film brings back key characters including Cindy Campbell, Brenda Meeks, Ray Wilkins and Shorty Meeks. Anna Faris and Regina Hall reprise their roles alongside Marlon and Shawn Wayans, with additional cast members including Damon Wayans Jr., Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott and Dave Sheridan.

The project is presented by Paramount Pictures in association with Miramax, continuing a franchise that first launched in 2000. The new film follows the core group as they face a familiar masked killer more than two decades after their original encounter, while also expanding its focus to satirise contemporary horror trends and industry conventions.

The return of the Wayans brothers represents a notable shift for the series. Marlon, Shawn and Keenen Ivory Wayans were instrumental in establishing the tone of the first two films before departing the franchise. Their involvement in the 2026 instalment has been positioned as a creative reset, with the film described as a broad send-up of modern horror cycles, including reboots, sequels and so-called legacy continuations.

Alongside its returning cast, the film introduces a number of new performers, expanding the world around the established characters. The production wrapped in late 2025, with filming taking place at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta.

The franchise has historically drawn on contemporary genre releases for its parody material, and the latest entry continues that approach, incorporating references to recent horror titles and familiar slasher icons. While specific set pieces remain under wraps, the marketing campaign has emphasised the film’s focus on current trends within the genre landscape.

The newly released poster reinforces the film’s irreverent tone, foregrounding the returning characters while signalling a renewed focus on the franchise’s original style of humour. Scary Movie represents one of the more high-profile comedy releases of the summer, reintroducing a property that has remained dormant since 2013’s fifth instalment.
