Timothée Chalamet Returns in First Look at ‘Dune: Part Three’
A new trailer has arrived for Dune: Part Three, offering audiences their first glimpse of the final instalment in Denis Villeneuve’s ambitious adaptation of Frank Herbert’s science fiction saga. Warner Bros. Pictures will release the film in UK cinemas on 18 December 2026, bringing Villeneuve’s trilogy to its conclusion.

Directed by Villeneuve and co-written with Brian K. Vaughan, the film is based on Herbert’s novel Dune Messiah. The story continues the journey of Paul Atreides, portrayed by Timothée Chalamet, following the events of Dune and Dune: Part Two. While the earlier films charted Paul’s rise within the harsh desert world of Arrakis, the upcoming chapter is expected to explore the consequences of the power he has claimed.
The newly released trailer hints at a darker direction for the story. Set years after the events of the previous film, it teases a galaxy grappling with the aftermath of Paul’s ascent and the violent religious conflict that has followed in his wake. The story moves forward seventeen years after the events depicted in Dune: Part Two, expanding the scope of the universe and showing the lasting impact of Paul’s transformation into a messianic figure.

Chalamet returns alongside Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Florence Pugh and Rebecca Ferguson, with Isaach De Bankolé, Charlotte Rampling, Anya Taylor-Joy, Robert Pattinson and Javier Bardem also joining the returning cast. New additions include Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke.
Villeneuve has long described the project as a planned trilogy, with the third film serving as the final chapter in his vision for Herbert’s world. Development gained momentum following the critical and commercial success of Dune: Part Two, which earned more than $700 million globally after its release in 2024.
Work on the screenplay began while Villeneuve was finishing the second film. The director previously indicated he would only move forward with the sequel if he believed it could surpass the achievements of its predecessor. Writing duties were shared with Vaughan, known for his work in comics and television.

The production will also feature a change behind the camera. Linus Sandgren takes over cinematography duties from Greig Fraser, who shot the first two films but was unavailable due to commitments to other major projects. Hans Zimmer is expected to return to compose the score, continuing his musical collaboration with Villeneuve.
We’ll have more news on Dune: Part Three ahead of its release in UK cinemas on 18 December 2026.
